He isn't far off Maguire though. He's not as good, but there's definitely not a huge, huge gap.

So yeh, if Maguire is worth £80m (which, he isn't) we'd be - on paper - doing well to get Zouma for £40m.

I reckon we'll bid. I reckon it'll be about £35m. Whether that proves enough....

If we get him for that, though. It's a good deal. There's not many other CBs of the same profile who we know would guarantee to do a better job at the same price.

Compare their stats and they're similar. Zouma is 2 years younger too. To each their own though.

I cant get my round Chelsea even considering a sale myself. Not cos he is or isnt brilliant or ok, but just that he is a decent, PL ready defender, and no one has a clue how their season will pan out, injury or form wise.

It was really odd last season the way our fans were just oblivious to the mistakes he was making yet absolutely pounced on Mina for looking a bit awkward on the ball sometimes.

I was on the Zouma not that good train early doors. But undoubtedly got better and won me round by the end of the season.

But the fact remains that we need at least one centre back and I’m getting to the point that I don’t really care who it is.

As long as its not Ashley Williams.

It's not about whether Mina is boss or not.

We need 3 quality central defenders.

Zouma fit and was playing really well. He isn't on big wages pro rata at Chelsea and isn't guaranteed minutes.

Worth persuing till the end.
