Just wrote the same in the Gomes thread. Both these two need to be sorted out. They're here, they're settling in nicely, their performances so far show huge promise. Both look intelligent whilst playing and have the trust of the manager to go out and play using their nous. This team will soon approach the level when they can compete against anyone; if they stay, they may well be making a very good decision for themselves as well as for Everton.

I know Zouma can point to a return to Chelsea and Gomes to Barcelona, but a season or two here, will harden them into top players and if they do go, it'll be back to that sort of team, and they'll go back as first teamers, not bench warmers. A couple of seasons here though, and maybe Mr Silva can break through the glass ceiling and keep them around for longer...

Gomes will be a lot easier to get than Zouma, I think.

He clearly doesn't want to be at Barca, so if he continues to settle like he has done, I see no reason why he'd turn down a move. It'd be then up to us to work out a deal with Barca.

Zouma's a bit different. He probably wants to make it at Chelsea, so he'd need some persuading.

He set out his stall out early to say he wants to be at Chelsea so we are deluding ourselves if we think he will sign permanently in Jan or as soon as the summer window opens. The only way I can see it happening is if he goes back and they sign a top level CB and then give him the cold shoulder, much like how we got Lukaku.

Agree that at this moment in time he's probably only got one thing on his mind, and that's to be playing well to get back in the Chelsea team, but you just never know mate.

One of us.... one of us...

At least he is honest about his motivation. I respect that.

Can't blame him, he is taking these loan deals to impress the club he is owned by. We are benefiting from this so it's win-win if everyone is professional about it. Things do change though and if he looks too far away from the Chelsea first team we will have a chance, but he has got to be playing his way into contention you would have thought for next season.

Zouma is a Chelsea player and would be stupid to say that he doesn't want to be there.

It is difficult to know what is happening at Chelsea because Sarri is still finding out about the players he has at the club but I would not be surprised to see Zouma stay at Everton permanently if he maintains his present form.

On a related issue, the career path taken by Zouma will probably be mirrored by Holgate who probably needs to go out on loan where he can play every week and learn his trade as Zouma is doing.

Inappropriate Language
To the tune of ABBA Super Trouper

Super Zouma what a f**kin signing
Split you all in two
No one can get through
Zouma in the Royal Blue

Yeah I get that too.

I’m just not 100% on him yet. Not that he’s doing much wrong. Just something niggles me.

For no real reason.

I get you, Probably waiting for him to mess up massively as it is what we do and we always fear the worst.

Obviously it will happen in the derby too.

love him. as soon as he gets the ball he immediately runs into space and lays it off to lb/winger. love that kind of positive play.

sadly it's just a loan
