Kone

Well, for all the good Martinez has done this season (and he's done a lot), this is a major embarrassment for him imo. A signing nobody wanted, a signing most people feared would bite him on the arse due to his age and inexperience at this level in the Premier League and a signing that, on our budget, represented a massive chunk of our funds.

Oh well. I had hoped we'd have perhaps tried to offload in January. When he comes back next season he'll have cost us around 2.5m in wages, more in medical costs, plus the money we paid to sign him. A real inspired signing.

Along with Alcaraz (another signing who'll no doubt have cost us several million by the time he takes to the field), it seems old Roberto let his heart rule his head in his early days as Everton boss. Hopefully he'll learn from this.

With everything considered, I think this will go down as Everton's worst ever signing. At least there was a logic behind signing Bilic, Bakayoko etc. as they were considered top players when we got them, but Kone...

He has been far too loyal to Kone... this is by far Roberto's biggest negative point!

Hope he does learn from this yes, he wold really need to as well

Very sad for him and for us. I know the lad has had a slow start but fans were too quick to get on his back originally. Now it's seriously doubtful that he'll ever come good.

I agree that this signing was likely a bit of a panic buy from Roberto, hopefully he learns from it. Seriously need splash some cash in January to get some back up in, all we have is Lukaku and Jelavic now. Lukaku could very easily get injured too and Jelavic has become a player who looks like he's going to fall over every time he gets the ball.

If there's one positive to take at all then maybe it's that we'll perhaps see Mirallas or Naismith in more central positions which they're both undoubtedly better at.

Martinez sayiing [about Gibson and Kone] that "if we could get them both back before the season ends it would be the best two signings." worries me.

We need to act in January to bring a replacement in. Lukaku cant do it on his own. Jelavic is atrocious and cant be called upon anymore. We need to spend out on a forward and recoup next summer if need be.

Imagine where we'd be now if that Lukaku deal had fallen through in the last half hour of the summer window! That's how much this club flies by the seat of its pants.
