Only name i'm a little shocked to see is Brewster on there. Thought he had something I think the one time I ever saw him.

McAleney will have a fine championship career I think. The boy can play but perhaps not as high as Everton. But a lower league career in football is still not to be sniffed at.

Sad to see Conor go. Don't have any bad wishes to Arouna, but won't miss him :o Shame about some of the younger lads too, tho I guess Russell will possibly go to Motherwell? Hope as many of them as possible can make it somewhere.

Bit surprised Russell Griffiths is being let go. He seemed to do okay in his loan spells. With Connor Hunt also released, it opens the door for our traditional youth goalkeeper signing.

Hewelt firmly established as third-choice, and if we bring in a new No.1 and retain Robles and Stek, that's enough first team cover, so won't need back-up GKs the age of Griffiths and Hunt. Not sure of the quality beneath them in the U18s - so you could be right... cue another 18 foreign whizkid from an oddly named Scandinavian or Eastern European club who never quite makes it. Unsworth may have his eye on someone as part of his quest to recruit the best youngsters in their age group for each position.

...I suspect McAleney has a few bob, he'll be a wealthy young man after a couple of professional contracts. It's the younger players who will truly have an uncertain future.
True enough, but it's all relative though. He was an Apprentice, now there's apprentices and apprentices ( if they still have them) but I doubt he'll retiring soon.
When he gets his head around the fact that his level is - whatever it is, he could still get 10 yrs at a decent level of remuneration (for a given level of apprenticeship)
As you know, attitude and application, in any trade, count for quite a lot.

His form dropped off badly at Cheltenham and they were not sorry to see him leave tbh.
