So just got home from the hospital, and my reconstructive knee surgery went well. I am pretty doped up at the moment. Comfortably numb if you will. If anyone on the board has any pointers on bouncing back from a knee surgery, let me know.

Astroman. I feel like this has been going on for a very long time bro!

Sadly no advice, but hope it all goes well. Just no going out playing football the day you think it's magically better!

I hurt my finger once and to stop it hurting I stopped doing things like moving it and pointing at stuff.

Then, when my finger was better (I knew it was better when it stopped hurting) I started off doing small points and moves. A kind of digit rehabilitation.

Hope this helps.

All the best, full recovery good man. xx

Follow the protocol the Ortho should have given you. Don't slack. Do the CPM if they gave you one. 6 hours (or more) a day sounds like a lot, but if you break it up into 2hr chunks and read/watch TV/troll internet forums, it goes by quickly.

Flexion is important, but for the first couple of weeks, extension is even more so. Make sure you work on getting that leg straightened out as much as possible. Put your heel on a pillow when you are sitting or laying down so that your leg is extended as far as possible. It is much easier to work on flexion later on than it is to work on extension.

Best of luck with the recovery.

I had a a tib + fib compound fracture after I stretched for a ball and a 17stone scottish goalkeeper threw himself on my leg. They went in through the knee to put a pin in, then again to remove it. Luckily I was in raf at the time so went to their specialised rehab centre. Had to learn to walk again from scratch. Its a long slog but you'll get there mate. I was so depressed i put on 3 stone post op just going pub and eating chinese. Keep your chin up.

Good stuff there heatmeiser. Alio, this crap has been going on since 28 May. The surgery took about an hour and a half. New ACL and the meniscus was repaired. In fact the damage was not as bad as they expected when it came to the Meniscus. The folks at the hospital were top notch. The frau and the boys have been awesome. Tomorrow morning I am ordering my Everton kits for this year. Thought it would be good to wait and have something to look forward to while I was down. Gonna be posting a bit more from here on. I am finally getting over my gutted over Everton phase after the transfer window debacle.

Good luck Astrolid!!! I'm sure you'll be back up and running in no time

Thx mate. You have had nothing but boss info for me on this subject since my injury in May. Thanks again. Hope you are well.

Thx Frank. Btw, haven't had a chance to say it, but love your work on the board. Truly some class postings!

Oh and btw, one of the nurses asked me when I was in the recovery room "What is Everton?" I say why? She said that three or four times while I was getting my nerve block done, I was mumbling about ****ing Everton. Also she told me that she hopes my spaniel (dog) named Mikel comes back. I guess I was muttering about missing the best little spaniard Arteta and she thought I said spaniel. Kind of funny if you ask me.

Cheers Astro and im glad my pain could bring you pleasure. I wangled 6 months off post-op during which due to an admin error I received double pay (which they obviously reclaimed later but live in the moment I say). I romanced a Kiwi barmaid who later told me she agreed to go out with me because she saw my crutches and "thought there was something wrong with me." Every cloud has a silver lining matey.
