Kindle DX

Anyone got one? Worth getting? Battery life good?

Please share your thoughts people, as I'm thinking of getting one. I love paper books but i quite like the idea of having a load stored in one place.

Are you locked into amazon with this or can you put any old ebook on the thing?

Don't bother with the DX. Just get the regular Kindle. The extra couple of inches isn't worth over double the price. The regular Wifi one is more than enough for most people. I wouldn't get the 3G one unless I just *absolutely* had to get a book at anytime, regardless of where I was. I like to think I would have enough foresight to buy when I am at home on wifi or somewhere with free wifi.

I agree with the 3G, I can't see me needing it. Especially with wifi everywhere these days.

if your item is not in stock they dont tell you, you have to chase them and you must choose an alternative item - no refund

I'm not. I think they used to make a model called the KINDLE DX.

I'm in the same boat. I was going to go with the Kindle until the wikileaks thing. I'm not touching them now.

Still umming and ahhing about the ebook thing, tbh. I might continue to swerve it all.

Yeah right, you've spent the morning ploughing a muddy field and helping birth a few foals from the pregnant mare in the top field. After that you've been cleaning the spark plugs on that run down tractor in the barn; sorting out that fan belt that keeps slipping, your hands covered in thick engine oil.

Or have you been sitting on a swivel chair all day staring at a computer screen and finding out if they are gonna film the reboot of Xena Warrior Princess?

I don't do all the computer shiz and fantasy crap, in fact my history folder would show this place and ebay, maybe some review sites from checking out pressies for the kids. If my phone rings at whatever hour cos somkeone needs to get into their house or change their locks though then I am there.

Have a look at the ipad. Its expensive but it really is a stunning piece of kit.
Books, e-mail, internet, games, newspapers, I can't put the damn thing down.
