2025/26 Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Do you think his passing is acceptable?

He's playing a different role here, he was protecting the defence and giving them the ball there, here he's nowhere near our defence and is in possession higher up the pitch. He's lazy getting back in position as well.

I cringe each time he receives the ball at the top of the 18. But this is a really wild take, specifically the lazy part.

Watch next time we lose the ball and see how many players get back in to position before he does. Don't get taken in by a few sprints trying to win the ball back after he's given it away.

He's not lazy. He just isn't.

He's slow. And we have no one better that is actually available.
The system is responsible currently, he fits what he does, and we're trying something else. He isn't helped by D-Hall playing 3 positions (or trying to) whilst actually covering none.
Keep an eye in future for how narrow we get the CM's in the middle.

It may well be, but he can't do it and it also leaves us exposed defensively. Garner is the better footballer of the two, and if you're not having someone strictly holding then ideally you need someone mobile enough to get back quickly. Hopefully we have that if he's ever fit.
In 2025 football you press by moving forward and the backline covers by closing space and stopping counters before they start. Our major issue there is the CBs are slow. I mean the goal against West Ham is just Tarkowski being too slow to cover a run he really needs to be able to cover.

Our midfield is doing their job mostly this season. No changes needed.

Playing this way probably fits what he was before age caught up with him. Dyche got him to sit in front of the defense more and it eventually worked, but in general he's always been more comfortable challenging further up the pitch. And it's not as if we're shipping a ton of goals now anyway.

I do take issue with the "lazy" moniker the other poster gave. It's absurd.

Yes it is indeed absurd. It's an easy and ironically lazy comment to make. When Gana was mopping up after Doucoure it was fine, Doucoure covered more ground than Gana and that hustle meant turn over of possession, we don't have that now (and no one even challenging for headers up the middle) so the onus is on a bit more ball playing, some games Gana is in tune and can comfortably move the ball about, but often his range finder is miles off and we break down often. Garner can pick a pass, D-Hall can as well, so if we are going to be playing the ball on the deck instead of fighting for headers then something has to give. The reluctance to face this issue is what's stopping progress. Either make them a unit of destroyers and filter the ball out to the unsupported wings or just play two to defend their respective middle and flank and operate with an AM that dictates the attacking channels. It's a lot for an AM to do though, consistent like. Will the support be supportive for a full 90 or more of frustration? Alcaraz has shown petulance and temper, so it's N'Diaye and Dibling into the fray. We've bare bones options, we've come on leaps and bounds but we're still way behind what we need.

Seen a few weird posts on here today. Calling Gueye lazy though is by a distance the weirdest.
You've had a shocker there.

I watched about 20mins this other night and he couldn’t pick a pass at all, was this consistent throughout the night?
Any creative play is through his movement and quick touches. He does not create good chances for the most part apart from a longish ball or cross and he ignores any runs made ahead of him. Either Moyes needs to get on him about it or we need others to pick up the creative slack. Would be nice if we had fullbacks.
