That's a real shame imo, in the most difficult circumstances imaginable he was able to move on the deadwood, get decent fees for our saleable assets, reduced the wage bill and strengthened the squad with very limited resources.
He had an eye for identifying decent talents, albeit didn't always have the financial resources to get them.
I would've liked to see him get another year/window or two with some decent money behind him, it'll be interesting to see who the club bring in to replace him.

A little surprising after his recent interview.

I hope they've done their review and are clear about who they want and in what role.

It's fine for Moyes to be leading recruitment in the summer but you do have to have some continuity into the future and joined up thinking at an overall level which won't be Moyes' responsibility.

TFG handling of the DOF position at Roma hasn't been particularly impressive and it would not come as a shock if a group DOF will be appointed and oversee recruitment and other tasks at a high level for both clubs.

Makes sense.

There’s a rumour that Thelwell’s departure is imminent along with Richard Kenyon, the Marketing & Communications Director.

Hopefully it’s nonsense as I think Thelwell has earned another year - his signings look a lot better under Moyes management.
Turns out that the rumour was true for once.
Hopefully they’ve got someone decent lined up to replace old big nose.

If he's leaving in the summer, who is going to be doing the planning for the summer? And if it's not him, why keep him around until the summer?

This seems like a decision that will be highly disruptive and an unnecessary binning of a guy who has done a very good job. Slightly alarmed by it.
I really hope it isn't going to be given to Moyes, but I suspect it will be. Moyes doesn't like DoFs, he likes to be in charge. It was my biggest reservation about him coming back, so am really worried by that notion.

Depnds on the timing of the new dof would like to think one is already on the way here. Would be more worried if a new one is not done by the end of season.
