This is a very good point. Haven’t replaced him or Lukaku, and that goes back to Koeman/Walsh.

So, in mine and many other peoples opinion he has failed.
Yes we didn’t replace Lukaku 6 years ago, but we still had creativity and goals in the team which has seen us finish 8th, 10th and 12th.
It so evidently missing last year that it was a priority and not addressed. Not to mention there was no guarantee that DCL would be able to remain fit, which he hasn’t.
I don’t think he’s been here long enough to be judged as failed is all I’m saying.

From the 2023 expiration, I imagine only Coady will stay. Possibly Coleman on a 1 year extension, and one of Davies or doucs (likely Davies as he is younger).
2024, pickford and iwobi to hopefully stay. Gray possibly but as a rotation option by then. Gana will definitely need replaced but if we have an option on a 3rd year, I expect us to trigger it as cover.
2025, I imagine most of them will already have been shifted out by then, maybe except Godfrey.

A huge opportunity to save wages by getting Coleman Doucoure Mina Townsend Rondon Davies off the books this summer. If we can somehow shift Keane as well that would be a massive result.

If im being generous...
2023 - I went with Coady and perhaps the 1 year trigger for Doucoure so we have midfield depth and can focus on other areas.
2024 - Pickford + Iwobi to keep. Gana is looking a disaster and Gray is too selfish to plau in a team game.
2025 - Only Gordon and perhaps Godfrey at the moment unless DCL gets past his injuries.
If Coleman is given a 1 year deal it would be insane...we have Mills and could bring in someone like Singo from Torino on a free.
Of the 20 people listed i think we probably keep 4-6 of them.
Huge potential for Thelwell to revamp the squad.

I think Doucoure is a disaster, every time he’s come on the pitch this season he’s been woeful can barely trap or pass a ball. I think Lampard has had enough of him, he’s got his first choice three in midfield and Garner is first reserve. I’d look to get Onana in holding mid, Gueye as his back up, Garner in one of the other spots, Iwobi at 10. That would leave us needing two players to compete with Garner and Iwobi. It would allow us to finally get rid of Davies Doucoure Gomes permanently.
