My favourite Everton player, he was my hero as a kid, but he also broke my heart and I've never forgiven him!
My first Everton match was the 85 Charity Shield and I was at the tunnel trying to get the players autographs. Kevin Ratcliffe, Big Nev and Sheedy walked past and I shouted over excitedly. The 2 Welsh boys signed my programme and Sheedy said I'll see you in a bit.........
He never came back to me. God it still hurts............
What a player!!!!!

Finest player I've seen pull on the blue shirt. Won us the 1987 championship nearly singlehandedly, with Kevin Langley and Neil Adams in the same midfield.

Nice article in yesterday's Irish Independent - only seeing it now.

Interesting insight on how the great 80s team took time to gel together....ah I remember it so well!!

My favourite three Sheedy moments -
  • The Ipswich free kicks
  • Flicking the V's at the Kop after scoring in the derby
  • The third goal v Rapid Vienna after they had got it back to 2-1, straight down the other end and Sheedy makes it 3-1.
Good times!

......giving McMahon a sly kick when he was lying injured on the ground and then moving away in case he was seen. No pace, no tricks just a top footballer.

Can't believe no one has mentioned the horrendous (in some people's mind) two footed tackle he did on a prone McMahon in a Goodison Derby, only tackle I ever saw him do!
