Really confusing from an outsider looking in as when I've watched him (Obviously, I don't watch him week-in week-out like you) he looks the part. Skillfull, dangerous with the ball at his feet, can go inside or out etc. Must admit, I'm basing this from a handful of full-matches he's started I've caught and a few clips from Match of the Day! So, not the most insightful opinion I admit!

Is it a consistency problem with him? Does he flatter to deceive too often or is he just a luxury player, type that looks quality when you're 4-0 up but doesn't want to know when it matters sort of player?

I was going to say he looked quality at the SOL when we played you but I don't think there wasn't an opposition player alive who didn't look good against our clowns. Sarah Platt from Corrie could turn it on v us.

lol

Look back over the thread mate he's quite a marmite guy, this thread goes quiet when the team plays well then comes alive when we're struggling and the guys with very long memories remember when he was a decent player.

He’s got the attitude of a 7 year old, mate. The answer to your question is absolutely yes, Mirallas can be the best player on any pitch, but it’s far more likely he’ll not do a tap for an hour then lose interest or do something stupid.

I think people turned on him when he had a bizarre spell of getting sent off all the time for idiotic challenges and threw a huge strop on the pitch to take a penalty in front of Baines and Lukaku - then missed it.

He’s definitely talented. And in my opinion still worth having on the pitch based on ability. But he thinks he’s far, far better than he is and it’s only ever a few hours until his next tantrum.

whilst I agree that was silly, if I recall he was getting brought on with literally the board going up for injury time a few games in a row, almost as if bobby was trying to goad him, like what impact do you expect him to make in that time

for me, as inconsistent as he is, he is still a match winner and when he does perform he makes things happen, again not all the time... but who in the current team now does?

would definitely have him in the team, especially for games like burnley where they are going to sit there and defend the game, players like kev/lookman etc are needed for a bit of magic to beat a man ( of course both never played because ronny is a tool )_

How long has he been here,5years and done what,a few good games at first, and now crying about wanting to leave and walking around with Olympiacos shin pads on,no thanks.
He's always worn the shin pads mate including the good games you're referring to. There are pictures out there to prove it. Are you okay with Klaasen headed back to Ajax for that ceremony he was a part of a few weeks ago? There's nothing wrong with respecting your breakthrough club and showing love to them.

My point is it's that mentality that's the problem. We are not in a position as a club to bench a player that wants away. Honestly I can't blame Kev for wanting to go back to his old club; lots of players do it and I think it's a dream to do so. He's not getting any younger. I would be fine with letting him go next summer but in the meantime it's not right to not play him, especially when he is exactly what some of these poor matches have been missing. He's a professional and he's competitive just like everyone at this level. He will give his all if called upon for us.

Look at Coutinho: a very high profile wantaway this summer that didn't get the move he wanted. What has he done? He's continued to play well for the club that's paying him to do so.

He not good enough to be playing that why he is on the bench, and when he comes off it he attitude is crap, and he put the shin pads on after he was told he could not go there,he then went in the press about his disappointment, and his love for the club and fans, a average at best.

Aye I do remember that, but it’s up to him to be professional isn’t it? If I recall the Swansea one he came on and got sent off about 30 seconds later for a horror tackle in a bore draw. Just frustration. Then against West Ham he got a second yellow after 30 odd minutes for sliding in late way inside their half. Brainless.

I agree with you there. One thing I always remember about Mirallas was his goal against Leicester away in Martinez’s last game. Despite playing dreadfully he picked it up on the halfway line then went past 3 players and slotted. I kept saying to everyone “you’ll never get that out of Cleverley”. Mirallas always has that ability to change a game with something special.

...fine player but not the best of professionals. When he got his new contract I said I feared he might be the type who’s form and availability dipped when back in his comfort zone. It appears he’s had a falling out with Koeman, much depends on whether Mirallas is overly bothered if that situation changes.
