I'd have him here in a heartbeat. It's a shame that there'll be loads of other Champions League teams thinking the same.

Isn't that essentially what we all thought about Lukaku? I'd take him in a heartbeat, think he's going to be genuinely class in a year or two.

I'm trying to sort my head around what Mourinho is doing there at Chelsea.

Oh if it was a loan then I think we'd be definitely in with a shout. I thought people were mainly talking about a permanent move, which I think would be hard to pull off.

A loan in and of itself would be difficult enough since we're at the limit already. I dunno, the team keeps their form up, lining up into champions league place, I could see this being an attractive proposition for him.

I'm thinking waaayyy too far ahead here but as someone mentioned before if there was a chance that we could get Barry signed permanently in Jan (as I think all it would be doing is speeding up the inevitable) then it could possibly happen.

It could well be an attractive proposition for him. He's housemates with Lukaku (who the [Poor language removed] needs a housemate with that money, by the way?) and then there's Mirallas too of course.

Im not sure Barry will be willing to take a pay cut 6months early.

I wouldnt blame the fella myself, fairly sure City will be glad to get him off their wage bill.

He wouldn't dislodge Barkley in that advanced cm role at Everton, but he'd be great to replace Pienaar long term. Can do that job out wide on that flank. You'd be looking at least at 10M there, I suspect.

I wonder which other Belgians Martinez has asked Mirallas about. Roberto has said that we could potentially have Deulofeu on loan for two seasons, so you'd expect that he'd make the left wing his own in his time with us. The manager has also reportedly said that he'll be looking to strengthen in January as well. De Bruyne could provide competition to Barkley and provide cover on either flank. Will they want to sell to us though if they end up looking foolish by letting us have Lukaku on loan?

My theory is that he's trying to wind players up so that when they come back into the side they try so much harder. It's a bit of an odd gamble to take with Mata though given that he was already their best player.

Didn't Leverkusen want to take De Bruyne in part-exchange for Schurle but Mourinho knocked them back? I think a loan is the most likely option.

I suppose it works out cheaper for us to be paying a proportion of his wages than for them to pay his contract up in full. Maybe there is some room for manouever though? It would better for us if we could take another loan than to sign someone permanently.

It's a huge gamble, especially with players like that.

And as far as Barry goes, there are other ways to entice him to come over early, like bigger sign on fee and whatnot. I know we're all dreamers and we think of the club first, but I have to imagine there are SOME players who can see it might be better to put aside short term gain for longer term greatness..

Imagine de bruyne Barkley and mirallas all interchanging with lukuka up top . He's a versatile player who could come into CDM when deleufoe come on

My theory is that Mourinho is the ultimate egoist who would refer to ship out his best players even to the detriment of the team.
