Player Valuation: £35m
As usual in most derby build ups, our players have been talking on the everton website and in the media about what the derby means, about how we can still do it without fellaini, Moyes about how dangerous arteta is these days etc.

I've been thinking this isn't perhaps the best strategy (but maybe I'm wrong). We always seem to do this pre derby matches, whereas we are quite gracious before we play anyone else - usually with Moyes in the press saying what a good job the opposing manager is doing.

The problem seems to be that in combination with all the other hype, media stories etc, it just riles the LFC players and makes them up their game.

Stoke got a 0-0 draw out of them the other day, but I doubt you would of heard a peep in the papers from then before the match. As a consequence LFC sleepwalked into the match.

Its been many a year since we beat them at Anfield, perhaps pre match we should just keep quiet and wait to do our talking on the pitch.

(of course this may just be impossible as its the derby, everyone's on a [Poor language removed] edge and up for the fight anyway, no matter if we give it the big mouth before the match)

Pressure is on them, that there have been so few soundbites from their corner is indicative of how much fear there is there after Bitternez's outburst about manure and ferguson.

Taxi for alonso!

Well I for one want fighting talk - and to see it in action on the pitch.. with the result to go with it - with any luck if we play our game we'll get something out of tomorrow night's game.

well hopefully that fear will undo them.

Hopefully they will underestimate us.

I think the whole build up has been the quietest its been for a while to be fair. Flipping through the papers there's more talk about Kaka and Manure title challange than the Waiter and our usual small colum at the bottom, the odd interview on Sky Sports News - but I think its just been over shadowed by the Kaka stuff and the monday night kick off aswell as the waiters contract.

We never get good pre-match write ups unless we're riding higher in the league (like last season).

Could end up being a really dull game to be fair.

I have to agree with the original poster. Howard and his 'smash them in the mouth' statement was the biggest tempting fate pre-Derby statement I've heard since Kuyt said something similar prior to the Johnson Derby they took a mauling in.

Talking big isn't impressive. Doing it on the night is impressive.

Not stopped the pigs (the filth, the fuzz, the c.u.n.t.s in uniform) talking big. If it does get a bit heated, hopefully a few of them get a smack in the mouth.
