I'm a reds fan - only signed up to make this one post and don't intend to make another. Hope I'm welcome to do it.

Just wanted to echo what's gone before in this thread and praise Martinez for his speech and the genuine class that he showed. An incredible gesture and one that had me welling up from start to finish. What a great man and how lucky you are to have such a fantastic person in charge of your club - a perfect fit.

We all know the rivalry on the pitch and in the stands between our two clubs runs deep and passionate. But times like yesterday remind us it's just football, and that in the end, there are good people involved who help us remember we're all humans in one big community.

Thank you Roberto and Everton FC.

My final thoughts on today service can be summarised in two words : Merseyside United.

Some things in life are SO much bigger than footballing rivalry...today demonstrated that as starkly as is possible.

Respect.

Speaking as a Liverpool fan I'd like to send a big Thank You for any and all support that your club and the fans showed yesterday. The dignity and respect shown was amazing and the speech by the manager was truly inspiring. I think we all know that this was a case of "There but for the grace of God" It's been a long time but Merseyside WILL get justice over the Establishment.

I'd love it if that occasion could act as a catalyst to restore the FRIENDLY rivalry that there used to be. I fear that may be a step too much but I can always dream. Used to love going to Anfield in the early '80s when you could find yourself sitting between Evertonians in any part of the ground. (Derek Hatton and a McGann brother one year) I also remember going into town to watch the team come back with the F.A.Cup not so long ago and there was a man there dressed head to toe in an Everton kit with a small son on each arm who were also head to toe in blue. I remember speaking to him but should have found out more about him. That's a guy I can have a pint with!!

Much respect.

Felt the same watching it yesterday mate. Didnt feel right posting about it though, but I thought he misjudged the mood/occasion actually.
He's a bellend. How could you misread the mood at an event like that? It's just weird.

Speaks volumes that Kopites were more fulsome in their praise of Roberto than the words of their own manager.

Good to see, to be honest. It's only recognition for the support we've gave them. Few of them saying they'd like us to get 4th which is okay but a tad patronising since they wouldnt be saying it if they were behind us, and I wouldnt want want them to get 4th, ever, we're rivals on the field. But yeah, our solidarity as a city and two clubs can't be matched.
