Just Not Good Enough....

I'd agree with that, I'm a fan of Osman in a central position but he wasn't suited to this game, I didn't want Moyes to start him. I was looking more towards Pienaar in the middle and Anichebe on the wing, giving us a bit more physical presence and pace.

And I agree with Neiler, I think it's time to start introducing Yakubu into the side and freshening it up a bit. Saha is in poor form and the service is awful at the moment, Yakubu offers more in deeper positions, in terms of link up play and all round involvement. I wouldn't even be against going 4-4-2, with Yak and Saha leading the line, Saha needs more support.

As for the long term, I think right back, right wing and Cahill's position are the areas we should be looking to improve in. We need a better footballer behind the striker, we need a more rounded fullback and we need a winger with pace, whether that's Donovan or not, I'm not sure, I'd like to see more of him. I'd like N'Zogbia here but he's going to be far too expensive, if he keeps on playing the way he is then he'll cost around 12-20 million, similar to Palacios and Valencia.

We need winger who can dribble and capable of creating space of a yard or two all by himself for a chance to cross.
Another option is to drop Cahill for Rodwell. Push pienaar and billy as high up the flank as possible to anticipate a chance to counter attack.

ToxBo, can you remember another time since Osman vs Larissa that we have scored a goal following a first time lay off?

I cant believe he started Osman in the middle, knowing perfectly well it was going to be a battle. He was absolutely anonymous. Waste of space. Should put the Tsar on the left for a bit of width and Stevie in the middle. As we saw the couple of times he drifted inside he wasnt afraid to mix it and get stuck in. Osman was just a little weakling, the runt of the litter.

Not solely blaming Ossie, as there was only Pienaar who showed any heart yesterday. The rest just simply didnt look arsed, from the first minute. I think they bottled it when they saw Carragher go through stevie in the opening seconds.

And for Moyes to come out and say we deserved more, that he just told them to keep doing the same things is just disgusting. Was he watching the same game?

As a collective (coaching and plying staff), that had to possibly be the worst derby I've ever watched from an Everton perspective, especially with the quality we had available to us as well.

I'm more angry than hurt, as it was totally avoidable - Liverpool were poor yesterday but they wanted it, and that was the difference.

I thought pienaar showed plenty of heart and determination...he was basically pole axed out of the game by the Yeti and Squeeky Voice. We looked to him for inspiration he wasn't able to give because of that and we didn't use donovan enough. Ossie didn't do much either.

Oh and Brum won today too.

We wont finish above them IMO.

There's a few reasons why we will wont challenge "the elite" any time soon.

1) Lack of quality
2) Our tactically inept manager
3) Lack of funds to sign quality

Lot's more, but they are the main ones for me.

We've got, what we refer to, as quality. But have we?

Have we got a Rooney, a Torres, a Drogba, a Fabregas?

Have we bollocks. And we'll never attract players like them either.

I said from day 1 of the summer last year, we wont get near the top 4. And it was obvious to everyone who wasn't a Moyes basher.

Lots of good posts but a common theme is this:

We're getting beat at our own game. We were/are very good at stifling the opposition (go back no farther than the Man City match) and not allowing them to play. We were/are hard to break down.

Now it's being done to us.

Not sure about stifling mate. We used to limit opponent to long shot and press them all over the pitch. They hardly had any decent chances. Now they can find gaps all over our backline and we can barely keep up with counter attack.

Livershite out pressured us. They were flies on [Poor language removed]. YES they outplayed us! Even a man down they remained cool and we failed to break them down. It's that simple.

I agree with you when you say "They hardly had any chances" but they still won. It's not as dire as some see it. Liverpool are 4th place now and we gave them all they could handle at Anfield. Was it our best? Not even close! Could we have won? I think we could have given different circumstances. Fellaini is absolutely our key player right now. Without the Fro we are a different team. We need to meld Rodwell into a Froless Fellaini. When Rodwell is ready we need BOTH on the field creating chaos. Teams will fear that.

Is it not time then for Moyes to look afresh at his team selection, tactics and subbing?

I am not one for knee jerks, and we need to look at this in the context of recent fab league performances, but that was worse than the derby match. Probably the most inept performance under Moyes (including the Arsenal 6-1 reverse).

I am not sure if I want us to be the laughing stock of Europe, so until we get wise to the euroball game, I am dreading us qualifying for Europe again.
