Just Not Good Enough....

Welcome to Barcelonaton FC
If you can tell me any reason why we are good enough to challenge the elite and compete then put it in this thread.

After todays performance, I dont think we can and we wont be able to for a while till something clicks.

I cant see, on paper, why we didnt get anything from the derby today when -
A) Everything pretty much went our way ie nobody sent off and they were 10 men down.
B) A bench with options.
C) Almost over an hour against 10 men, the large percentage of possession, and 2 shots on goal against a weaker side.

It boggles my mind. I dont want to get into the poor decisions Moyes made (Im guessing Vaughan is on his way too having not made the bench).

The top clubs dictate play and make use if they're a man down or 5.0 up. The RS did today, you wouldnt have guessed they had 10 men, but they still won and limited us to a pathetic 2 shots on goal.

But basically, minus Jagielka injured, we had a core side playing fully fit or near abouts against a 10 man Liverpool side....and we lost.

Not good enough.

Argue why/if we are.......

Nothing to argue about we all watched it. Pathetic no use lying about it.
I was about to gag on their(Reds) ability to fall like a feather without being touched. We just didn't want it bad enough today.

Bily would have been a good option to be fair. People doubting why he's worth money, it's because he has the style of play that can make goals against good opposition.

I dont think it was about that either. We gave as good and to be fair Fellaini and Pienaar should've been sent off in the 1st half.

The problem is technically, as a team, as a squad, tactics etc.

We had Arteta, Pienaar, Bily, Yak, Saha, Gosling, Rodwell, Heitinga, Coleman, Cahill, Donovan....all fit...

The result? 2 shots on target and lost 1.0 against 10 men.

Hull's win over City kinda takes the luster off of our performance against them doesn't it?

Nope. We havent carried that on or been able to change or tweak that performance. Moyes has the players do to something and hasnt.

The RS will get 4th spot. Reason? They're a big game team, win the big games no matter how hard.

Spent 9mill on him. He should be able to do something.

They had a pretty poor team out against us. I remember some 'delusional' City fan being quoted on here as being bitter because he said something similar. No doubt we played very well, but we were at home against an understrength Manchester City, it's hardly beating United at Old Trafford is it.

Frustration to me is just kicking the ball around as pretty as you please then we are in and around their box we go psycho and hand it to them Ossie had that in him today it shocked me.

Its called panicing.

The top teams bind their time, stretch the play, wait for the opportunity.

We never. And never created anything.

I'm trying hard to avoid an anti-Moyes kneejerk at the moment. He doesn't deserve to be vilified after his rescue act on this club. But if he's sticking by his post-match comments defending the players' performance then he's inviting criticism on his own performance. We've fallen behind in past Derbies under Moyes and simply not reacted constructively enough. We had plenty of time there today to stretch them about and put them on the rack but it was just a case of bringing big Vic on and hitting and hoping. Falling behind against 10 men happens. It's how we responded that hurt most today.

I think we just gave up today.. but for the life of me i can't see why.. did we choke?

it seems our game plan was just stymied and we had no real plan b and/or no one able to raise the bar and lead a proper charge against a very mediocre ten.

massively disappointing to see so many failings and in so many areas.. and at freakin analfield as well!

someone said earlier.. fellaini off, nev takes his place and coleman on.. gotta say i do think that might have made some diff..

don't wanna knee-jerk but moyes seems limited and unsure when we are in such positions.

i was kind of waiting for our usual last 10 minute verve and venture.. but barely a wimper..

right i'm off out. laters..

We lost because we had no Plan B. When Fellaini went off injured each and every player looked slightly lost, as if they didn't know what to do without him there. None of our players were taking chances and making runs because they knew that our defensive midfielder wasn't there, and Arteta wasn't going to be the one running around getting into tackles at the back.
