Neiler

Player Valuation: £100m
Dutch daily De Telegraaf reports that the Merseyside club (Everton) have met with the player's representatives over the possibility of a move to the Premier League.

Engelaar, 28, impressed during the Netherlands' 3-0 win over Italy in their first game of Euro 2008, proving strong and athletic in defence as well as an adept passer and mover when in possession.

The midfielder is something of a late bloomer, but guided his side to Champions League qualification this season, and Schalke 04 are said to be interested in bringing him to the Bundesliga, but cannot meet his £6 million asking price.

This would not be a problem for Everton, who are hoping to convince the player to move before the end of Euro 2008.

In fairness hes looked good!(y)

What the De Telegraaf like for reliability, is it like the Daily Sport here or Guardian for example.

I think we could do better.
He played well against italy but was awful against the french i think he was hauled of at half time.

During the Italy match, he was the first player I noticed as a potential player for us.

Someone who could do the job in a position we need to fill.

Coincidence? I think not.

holland "suprisingly" doesn't have any titsout rags like that the ones that proliferate our newsagents and de telegraf is the main national newpaper, so much so that its the only one i can remember, i very much doubt if they can be arsed with speculative stories, especially if it could upset the tulip cart regarding the euro's.
saying that though...
they do were ridiculous blocks of wood on their feet
drink sour milk
and have unbelievably shoite takeaway food served from chrome vending machines and more importantly think the idea of a pasty repulsive
the latter was very beneficial to me and the lads as the chicken man on beverwijk market once took delivery of a huge box of ginsters pasties which we eyed speculatively and just before he packed up for the day pointed out that he had only sold a couple all day ( as if he didn't already know like) we then took the whole lot off his hands for about 20 guilders (6 1/2 quid at the time), he took it as 20 guilders for something he was never gonna shift, we saw it as 6 1/2 pence per pasty and dined like kings for a couple of weeks.(y) even had to get h.p. airlifted over as we ran out very quickly once we had them.

forget your judith chalmers and alan whickers, the tales i've got from my travels would have even them drooling...... and some might even get frank bough in a bit of a lather.

He's definatly got the physical attributes to make it in England. Big, strong, covers the ground quickly and good in the tackle. He looks a bit clumsy at times but that because of his sheer height. Similar to Crouch in that respect. He’s actually pretty decent on the ball and can pick a pass.

I’d take him but I’d also bring a younger midfielder in to learn from him. Or maybe Rodwell can be his successor.

Game Tonight

He has not looked brilliant in tonights game, but he has all the right attributes for our DM role. I would take him for the 6m as I think Shalke are struggling to raise the necessary finance

by the time the season starts the guy will be 29, not for me either, would rather a younger player we can get more value out of.

For a good defensive midfielder, 29 is a very good age! Makelele, Vieira are all close to mid 30-ies, and has been outstanding until very lately. He will be fit for at least 4-5 years. Carsley was 34 when he stopped. So he was too old as well the last 5 years? We do need some routine as well, otherwise we be like RS and Arse, close but not good enough.
