Yeah, most of these players won't make the cut here.

not sure why some fans still hang onto this hope that we are going to get a massive burst from the academy these days? Ledson Baxter Lumstrum Green Duffy all to name a few players who looked great and yet didn't end up in the first team.

If bloody ledson can go from massively rated to sold before he breaks through, then we are lucky if one of the OP named youngsters genuinely make the first team in the future.

We'll never know until we play them.
I'd give Tom Davies a run out at home if we are 2 or 3 up. See how he goes.
Then again, some youngsters are best thrown in at the deep end, take the shackles off kinda thing.

Weve got 4 in the u20s England squad havent we? If they can get through to U21 squad then theyve generally 'made it' and should be in our squad...

Baningime seems to get good write ups in the youth thread...which player is he similar to?

Doesn't always work that way I'm afraid Zat. Look at the Cheslea players in all the age groups, including the under 21s, and very few will get anywhere near their first team squad.

Beni reminds me of Kante a bit. Got a good eye for a pass on him too.

High praise indeed...why did you say kante rather than Gueye? Any reason?

I think chelsea just use it as a money machine but if we have england u21 players we usually play them...at least we used to.

I first noticed Beni last season. TBH Gueye wasn't even on my radar then. He reminded me of Kante at the time so I suppose it just stuck.

As regards the England U21 that used to be the case, but if you look at our last 3 representatives, Holgate, Galloway and Garbutt, then that's no longer the case. It isn't just us either. In the last U21 match there was probably only Ward Prowse and Redmond that were getting regular premier football. The game before that Rashford played too, but that's his only ever game at that level. Compare that with Germany where the whole team are getting regular Bundesliga time, at decent teams too.
