Just about half way into the season now, still in alll comps, 27 points in the bag, the team is scoring goals, the defence havnt concedead in three, pulling out good consisent performences and some stylish footbal to boot!

At this stage id hope to qualify for the Uefa again and maybe get to a cup final!

What do people think is realistic?

If we carry on grinding out results when required and scaring the teams coming here to death because of the number of goals we're scoring and more importantly, the way we are playing FOOTball, then very few teams will beat us.

There was quite a bit of hoofing going on in the first half yesterday but it's a small percentage of the game compared to a couple of years ago.

We will struggle to finish in the top six because of the form of other teams rather than us not being good enough, so it will be a fight right to the end. I see Pompey and City as the main threats rather than Blackburn, don't know why. Having said that, as a female, I'm genetically programmed to know nothing about football so just humour me and nod sympathetically!(y)

We'll need a bit of luck with injuries, especially to the likes of Arteta and Cahill, but I think we have a chance in all competitions.

I've said in previous threads that I don't rate the other teams around us in the league in terms of squad depth, so the African Nations plus a few injuries and suspensions could see teams around us struggle. We've got good depth to our squad however, especially in defence and attack, so shouldn't suffer too much from injuries and fatigue unless we lose Arteta and Cahill for extended periods. If we can start getting some performances out of Da Silva, VDM and Graveson however the midfield shouldn't be too bad either. Remember that we're where we are without any real contributions from those three, or indeed James Vaughan. All four of those have the potential to give the side something in the final half of the season, plus the new mystery signing of course.

The cups tend to be a bit more of a lottery and if I'm honest I would have taken the quarters of the League Cup and first knock out stage of the UEFA at the start of the season, so anything else is a bonus. We havn't done well in cup competitions since Moyes has been here so we have over achieved already.

OK dear (only joking)(y) (y)

I feel certain that we will press for a top FOUR position and CL based on the progress of this team. Come late winter, and spring and if we keep it on the deck we will challenge any side in the league, the players now believe. Some flashes of interplay between highly talented individuals really are outstanding. We have a manager who has learned to be far more adventurous after the Spurs debacle last term, another step forward for the club and I take my hat off to him as he was so right about Yakubu, lazy bugger that he can be. The future is bright, the future is BLUE(y) (y) (y) (y) (y) (y)

I like your thinking Monty, no doubt Marseille will thump Liverpool, thus knocking them out of the CL, Beneathus will be sacked, Gerrard will cry off to Barcelona and they'll not win another game between now and May resulting in ignominious relegation, perhaps with a nice 5-0 thumping by us in the UEFA Cup thrown in for good measure to send us through to the final and propelling us towards the PL title. Any of the above would just be a bonus, apart from Rafael getting the sack:lol:

At almost halfway we cant really complain at all can we, QF of the League Cup, 7th in the Prem and into the last 32 of the UEFA Cup having won our group.
But because of that expectations are now high for the rest of the season.
The way we are improving anything is possible.
