doesn't mean it's a better paid one, could be the same or less... I'm guessing he's happy to take whatever offered given the issues he's had with being a pisshead etc

I think Mata is probably the calibre of player that we have a chance of attracting most. A cracking player, but no one of the Top 4 will be getting him. He prob take a large pay cut if he went back to Spain, and if he did, none of their top 3 would have him. With the project Ronald has, we are, undoubtedly, an attractive proposition. Certainly the most attractive outside of the Top 4. Hope it comes off. Player of the year at Chelsea when they won the League, the Chelsea fans weren't happy when Jose got rid, because of his lack of defensive duties. Playing for a bad Utd side in Moyes & then an anti footballing side under LVG, mostly getting shunted out wide which is certainly not his strength. Playing in an attractive footballing side he'd be ace. Has to player behind the striker though.

Can't see us getting him, too many other clubs will be interested. The guy is proper quality and would happily fit in most squads in global football.

I think we would be an attractive proposition for him. I take it he lives somewhere near Manchester so he wouldn't have to move house. He would be a relatively big fish in a team which is growing. It all depends on whether he wants a big pay packet and not much else or if he feels he wants to help contribute to a team that is on the up.
