Jose Mourinho is boss

Bloke finished 2nd in the league last season and won 2 trophies and got to another final the season prior.

He isnt finished whatsoever he just had a bunch of inflated ego tarts in Pogba, Sanchez, Rom and Martial all with beaut agents to boot.
I honestly believe it was his choking of their talent that really cost him. For such an amazing attacking choice , the defensive first approach was what turned the players. They want to be smashing teams and scoring goals, not trying to control games and sit back. You could see it in the slow build up, Joe reckons he never told them that but that's essentially the tactic bleeding through , don't rush.

The minute the players are taken off the leash they go wild and show how deadly they are. I genuinely believe united are better than Liverpool man for man on the pitch and certainly in attack / midfield. Jose just throttled them to the point where it removed any urgency out of them

Part of being a modern manager is dealing with these inflated egos, something he seems unable to do. As Sir Alex said, some players need to a rollicking, others need an arm around them. He just throws them all under the bus. It’s no surprise the players turned on him. He was quite insulting and outspoken about Luke Shaw, his central defence knew he didn’t fancy them by him going public on it. It’s one thing thinking it but to go public doesn’t really inspire or motivate them. Martial got it for leaving pre season training to be at the birth of his kid. What message would that send to your team mates? The man is finished at the very highest level. And if he has, that means he’ll be at a club a tier below the Superclubs, that dont throw zillions around. He can’t/won’t be able to work with such constraints. PSG would probably be the best and only big club that he could hope for but I doubt they would be interested in him with all the baggage he now brings.

Worth a phone call

Somebody needs to light a fire in this club. One way or the other.
I'm still trying to think longterm with Silva. There is a tactical brain in there and given the right players things should come right.
But I must say seeing José hanging around spare is tempting.

he was annoyed that he didn't get enough money to spend at Man United.

I'm sure he'd love to come here, where he couldn't buy anyone

We couldn't afford him, in more ways than one

He'd spend all of our money, completely ignore the youth set up, leave in the third season, and then we'd have no money to fix things

That's the key difference between us and clubs like Chelsea

When he left them, things were rough, but they had enough money to get things back on track pretty quickly

We don't

Something to think about for the people who want him. Is short term success worth the massive rebuilding job once he leaves? Because we'd be rebuilding for a LONG time once he left

If it was say, two years of success in trade for almost 25 years of settling for.....nothing?

If it meant an inevitable tearful ending after some trophies and joy for our support... I'd be all for it.

People can slag his character and methods, but he still WINS things dammit. It's not his job to be liked..... it's his job to win.

It's really something when he's seemingly "not deemed good enough" for Everton. I say to hell with morals and "Doing things the right way". I want a nasty manager for a change. A manager who gets on RS nerves is alright by me.

Until there's a harder, ruthless edge to everything about the club from the top down, we are in limbo.
