On target again for the reserves...it appears he's playing well. How far away is this kid from securing a spot in the first team on a regular basis? He was once considered one of the brightest prospects in the game (more so than Rodwell two years ago). Why has he dropped down the pecking order? Is he now maturing into a player?

dunno but i love him. think hes cahills natural replacement. more finesse and less aerial than cahill, but could push him for minutes next year at cf. like the lad

I've always been curious as to how he'd fare out on the wing, given the lack of options there. I haven't really seen enough of him to have an educated opinion.

Well for a start, I'd say Ross Barkley has totally leapfrogged him in the pecking order. Then from what I've seen, even though he stands out in u18/reserve level, the jump is huge and he hasn't really progressed all that much. He is decent, and should probably make a good career for himself but right now, I don't see him being a regular here. Mind you, if he goes out on loan, and performs well, he might force his way in a la Leon Osman (who was a late bloomer but more through injury than anything). Until then I don't see him making waves anytime soon.

He's put abit of beef on and is tough in the tackle but at times' he's mentally appeared off the pace as well as physically...

(at times).

Still early days for him I think, give it another 18 months.

I'd probably agree with this, he's not an outstanding talent, and still has alot to do in terms of development, but I think he's got enough about him to be a squad player here in the future, in the Osman mould. I watch the occasional reserve game on Liverpooltv and he clearly has ability.

Was thinking the same thing when I noticed he'd scored again.

Seems a prime candidate for a few months out on loan.
Send him to the Championship for the rest of the season (with one of those 24hr return clauses - just in case).

He's not going to progress in the reserves with kids (most of which will never cut it) and guys easing back into fitness after injury, he needs to play some competitive, 100% effort, full-on, meaningful football.

Few months out on loan at your West Broms/Blackpools etc.

Don't like the lad though, a PSCO who I work with says he's a collossal tree.

He missed a free kick against BATE Borisov last season and I stood up and called him a massive pillhead.

hahaha quality. I have a tendency to sit quiet at games then erupt into a volcano of satirical abuse based on players previous escapades as well...

i try not to like.

for the most part, i'm a good fan.
