Jonjoe Kenny

Has to be Godfrey at RB. He's the one with the engine.

Benitez wont break up a sucessful - if sometimes ropey - CB pairing chosen from Mina/Keane/Holgate.

He isn't good enough sadly and probably on low confidence, after that poor loan spell at Celtics.
If we kept him for backup, now is the time for him to step it up. But I think Ben Godfrey might start over him against Burnley.

I can see Rafael giving him a chance just to evaluate the side. It will probably explode spectacularly in his face if he does so, but new managers can often get different results out of players. I just think Jonjoe is a level behind athletically for a very demanding position. Hopefully Godfrey is ahead of him here and fit.

He should be given a chance, and if we are playing a more traditional RB rather than what Coleman and Digne were asked to do (bomb on and provide width) I think it might suit him. Godfrey is a much better CB and should start there.

That said we need to recruit one in January or at the very latest at the very start of next summer.

Probably 4th choice as I imagine Holgate will be playing RB against Norwich. Should have took whatever Burnley offered last January and then we would have had to replace. He will leave on a free next summer and likely get a contract with a Championship club. He isn't awful just unfortunately nowhere near the level we require.

Obviously nothing down for this kid if he can’t get in the side at the moment. I don’t think it matters if he has a blinder against QPR, if Benitez doesn’t rate him, that’s that. Once Benitez takes a turn against a player there is no way back.
