From a purely commercial perspective, I’d be pretty certain JJK would sign a new contract if offered, plenty of time to get a fee for him.
without knowing the numbers offered this window, might have been more commercially viable to keep him anyway, ie sell him for £1 or £2m and have to spend more than that on maybe only a loan to give us cover (plus likely a higher wage)…. May as well keep him if that was the case, even at the risk of him going for free.
He is not PL standard he was struggling at Celtic. Just let him go, should not have offer contracts to the like in Penno etc. We could just sign Aurier as stop-gap and even Holgate and Godfrey can play there if needed.

Actually though JJK would have become a decent premier league player myself. Him and Davies are getting to the now or never point, I don't like writing youngsters off too early but I was very disappointed in what I read about his celtic loan, maybe his heart wasn't in it playing in that joke of a league.

….I’m afraid he lacks the physicality at the very top level. He was terrific coming through the ranks, starting as a CB (despite his size) and was outstanding for England Youth but he has no powers of recovery and often finds himself in no-man’s land and out of the game in open-age football.

Contract up next summer, he’ll get a deal somewhere but I don’t think he’ll have a host of admirers. If he does get a game, he’ll be fighting for his future in the game & he doesn’t lack attitude.

I cringe whenever i see him coming on the pitch tbh. Not good enough to even be a 3rd choice right back imo. It is just mistake after mistake and watch him when the ball comes to him, the first thing he always does without fail is look backward and try to be negative, probably because he is terrified of making another mistake. Was a good prospect a couple of years ago but then the progression just stopped and he actually went backwards. There is a reason why nobody bought or loaned him this window and it isn't because he is good.

Definitely gone next year when his contract runs out i think.

I think that’s accurate. He was one I was looking forward to seeing breaking through and was actually frustrated he went to Germany on loan… to be honest I was more than surprised by his performances when he came back.. just doesn’t seem to have “it”.. I think you’re right it’s about the physicality…not fast or strong enough.. decent trier though

At least try to get him in. Got to be pushing Coleman. Unlike Kenny.

….if we didn’t pursue this player in the window, surely the presumption is Benitez doesn’t want him. If Benitez doesn’t want him then we wont be interested. That’s the end of it.

We are now going with what we have. Coleman is doing fine & there is plenty of cover in the short-term with Godfrey, Holgate and Kenny.

January isn’t too far off, best wait and get a player the Manager wants.

I agree but Aurier would not be much of an upgrade anyway, Certainly not for Coleman.
Getting desperate there but the ex kopite made It hard to let us sign Patterson.

Hard ?? Pretty sure Gerrard would never sell the lad to us, The owners would have overruled him eventually like but I bet the price to us would of been 3x his worth. Let's just keep our pinkies crossed for Seamus to turn back the ages by 5 years and he doesn't ever get injured..
Yes mate we failed this window.
