But we do need to buy quality players to push for the top 4, and the only way we can buy quality players is with money.

Don't start this brado. Honestly.

I said this as a suggestion about Arteta to City, and got absolutely slaughtered. It's not worth it (y)

And Lescott isn't a quality player?! I've drunk quite a lot of alcohol tonight, but christ, Lescott is an important player for us. Selling a first XI player makes NO sense at all to me. Can't believe the attitude of some of you.

I can understand both points of view.

You sell him and you get 2 outcomes.

1) you weaken that position

2) you get money to strengthen elsewhere.

Number 2 - look at the Rooney transfer. Worked well for us. Sold our best player, £30m, and becuase of that, we are the team we are today.

I would only ever consider selling one of our best players if we could absolutely guarantee a good enough replacement, and got good money for him. Other wise it would be pointless.

Im not saying he's not a quality player and I'm not saying that I want him to go I'm just saying that £25million is alot of money

Relatively speaking though. I was reading the paper today and Bolton want £20m for Gary Cahill, Gary Cahill?!?! Football's gone mad.

I'd reject it. Sod it, we don't need to sell our best players.

If we keep saying that we need guys like Mout then we will have to sell a big money player.

Only Lescott and Rodwell make sense to sell.

I'd take 20-25M in a sec. as long as we have someone and agreement for another player already worked out.

Maybe for less money we might get 2 players they don't want like Jo and Richards as long as they'd eat some of their wages.

Ano I would never wan't Lescott to leave but this is the point i was trying to get across, money is what its all about now-a-days which is disappointing for the game.

There are plenty of superb centre backs waiting to happen at the moment in my opinion. The problem would be persuading them to come to us. Either that or we could comfortably slum it for a while with 30+ Champs League rejects.

The fact that a lot of clubs seem to want him should tell you how valuable he is. Go on a lot of forums who need defenders, and hes the first name they mention.
Thats the reason why i want him to stay, we need to add quality to the squad not lose it.
