Still don't need to sell him. Tell Chelsea we want 80 million. If they don't meet it. Tough. Stones can spit his dummy out, sit in the reserves whatever. It's only a week. He'll soon come round to the idea he can go next summer.

Don't give up, just re-evaluate how important football is to you in context. I did that a few years ago and I look at it a lot more light heatedly now.

If it is true, then why wait so late? Could just as easily be the board cashing in forcing Stones to take the heat by handing in a transfer request and foregoing any loyalty bonus

I believe him when he intimated there was no transfer request before this afternoon.

I didn't. Once I heard Martinez's press conference and him saying that he wouldn't accept one even if one was put in I knew it was only a matter of time.

If the board does not get a big fee here and spend, it could very well be the final straw. The atmosphere against Chelsea will be ugly.

I reckon there's a good chance he's been told to submit one as it'll mean he won't get a loyalty bonus, plus it makes the club look like it's helpless. We've done it before with Fellaini.

Just feel a little bit for Martinez as he's going to lose one of his very best players, and in a position we absolutely cannot afford to lose.

I hate modern football. I feel like I can't even be that happy about Barkley having a good game now because the reality is if he has a good season he'll be off next summer for sure.
