Joey Barton?! Surely Not?....

Personally, if David Moyes wants Barton then that'll do for me, but i have to question the wisdom of buying a player with a possible 15 game ban hanging over him.

I dont care if he is a good player / could do a job. He is a CU@T. He beat up a kid in a Mcdonalds and half killed him, put out a cigar in the eye of a younger player and then kicked the [Poor language removed] out of a team mate. Would you want one of your family members working with someone like that, especially if your kid was in the academy? I just hope that it isnt true.

My better judgment sways me towards Blackburn, Bolton or Portsmouth..But the small amount of sick that quickly filled my mouth when I heard the news that a 'top ten club who didn't want to be disclosed' sadly fills me with despair that we could even be considered in the same breath as Joey Barton. That taste is just not going away.

A couple of years ago when David Nugent was virtually begging us to sign him and said everything we wanted to hear along the lines of being a childhood blue/ dream move/ play his heart out for the club- it all fell on deaf ears. Much the same with Barton when he was 'on the market for a new club'.

But his behavior and lack of integrity off the pitch ( and on it sometimes) have over shadowed any interest any sensible club would show him at this point. The man is plain and simple a liability to himself, his family and his club. And to sign him now would be like taking possession of a poison chalice.

We are desperate but I would like to believe that sensibility would prevail over desperation even at this darkest of hours.

..but some thing does creep into your mind and fester in there and that little devil in us all would desire that one moment of true madness and the thought of him kicking Gerrard and getting a straight red would still make you smile deep down.- muhahahahahaha..

Let him come.

In my opinion, the squad we've got now is too soft, everyone comes across as too nice and friendly. Most sucessful teams need to have at least one 'win-at-all-costs' prick on the pitch that keeps opposition on their toes and eggs on the rest of the team - Rooney, Terry, Vieira, Cantona, Keane, Gerrard etc.

At the moment the team seems to just roll over and play dead at the first sign of a challenge.

I in no way condone his off-pitch behavior, but he's had his stint in prison now and there's every chance that it brought everything into perspective for him regarding how good he's actually got it.

I can agree with the list you've drawn up..add to that Alan Smith who would of been ideal in that 'win at all costs - who dares wins kill 'em all' mentality that has been lacking from our midfield for God knows how long. Even the Mitchell brothers; Carsley and Graveson backed out of challenges.

But unlike Barton, Smith wouldn't of had to bring his parole officer with him or play with an electronic tag on his ankle.

:D

I'm pretty desperate for us to sign someone. I'd even be happy with players I don't really rate like Davis or Ledley.

But Barton?! No way, I draw the line right there.
