JOE ROYLE

There's probably a simple explanation for it: the club wanted him to work for expenses and not weigh him in properly. Norwich are willing to pay him a wage.

The ironic thing is, if you read the original Echo story with Martinez comments, Martinez is very clear in what he wants Royle to do in the role. The link someone else posted to the Norwich paper from today, with Royle's comments, he's asked what his Norwich role will entail, and he basically gives a very vague answer, "Anything Neil wants me to do for him". Maybe it is all down to money.

Lets be honest, it always smacked like Martinez was creating a role for Royle, something that is probably a good idea, but not something that is absolute vital to our running or will utterly transform the club. We can probably get another former Blue to do it, be it someone like Reid, Snodin, Ratcliffe, etc.

Couldn't find a role for him?

Well if yesterday is anything to go by, the Everton ladies need sprucing up.
Howard Kendall should manage the ladies team, that would be some [Poor language removed] exceptional entertainment!!

I was at a dinner with Joe last Thursday. He said he was approached by the club and that Bill was very keen on getting him on the staff at goodison. But after the initial talks it went quiet and no offer was received. He speculated that Roberto might not have been as keen as the papers made out and that it could be difficult to bring in such a high profile former manager.

Said he was very impressed with what Roberto has done so far.

Big Joe was on Talksport this morning and described what he'll be doing at Norwich.

He's going to be working closely with the inexperienced Adams as a consultant, but their first task was to go through the first team squad and decide who was staying / going. So it sounds like he's got a far more prominent role there than was being discussed with us.

I suspect that Joe would have felt he wouldn't get the opportunity to be close to the dressing room and in fact still harbours managerial ambitions. Realistically he would never get that at Everton. The fact that he actually did manage us and regrets leaving would probably only have made him more uncomfortable in what is likely to have been a ceremonial role. No blame can be attached to either Joe, Martinez or the board on tis one.

He has more than likely just had a better or more concrete offer from Norwich.
Cant blame him , shame really as i think he could have offered the club something liked him as a player and manager both times left to soon.

Just laughed to myself in Joes interview he stated he had talks with RM and BK and his last words were "watch this Space" now BK knows how it is to be let down with that comment, as most blues fans know over the transfer deals when BK was interviewed on SSN!
The role at Norwich looks more hands on - so maybe pay and the job role differ so good luck to a true Legend!
Why not try colin Harvey for the same role they offered Joe?

Enough of the 'club sniping' it is probably that he has been offered a more influential position at Norwich supporting his friend Neil Adams.

And that is it. Simple as that. There were no discussions between Joe and the Club. The offer just didn't materialise.
