Lord knows I championed Unsie's cause but by the end it was clear even to me that the dear fellow was being broken by the collapses against Atalanta and Saints.

So I cannot believe Joe resigned over the fact David never got the job by itself, especially not in derby week.

Sounds to me like there is more to it than that and suddenly my newly found optimism is being tempered

I doubt it's a personality clash between Allardyce and Royle. I suspect Joe just wants to leave Allardyce to it, whereas, if Unsworth had got the job, he'd have stuck around to offer his advice to Rhino.

..it now seems inevitable there’s not going to be a smooth transition from the old regime to the new. It might be something the club has to go through. It’s a perfect storm if we haven’t got stability on the pitch, but hopefully Moshiri has addressed that issue.

I don't think there's a whole lot to this. Staff move on when a manager is replaced. Joe's probably figured that he fancies putting his feet up for his late years instead of all the aggro at Goodison. Can't say I blame him either. Fantastic fella, Joe. If he's left then we can only wish him well.

If he was pushed I hope it was done with great tact and respect. Hopefully he can still be around for matchdays as part of the hospitality guest speakers team. Now that would be worth paying for.

Sam Allardyce has signed a 3-year contract and taken the reigns at Everton Football Club.

... so, although I believe the story about Joe will likely turn out to be true, they weren't exactly accurate with the length of Allardyce's contract

My old man was Steve,he told me Catterick slipped on the ice rather than got pushed by angry fans but used the story against the vision as he was not his greatest fan.
