Player Valuation: Free Transfer
Morning everyone. Just thought i'd join on here to ask the older posters' opinion of Jim Pearson, a striker that played for you in the 70s. Met him last night. Seems a top bloke, still an Everton fan (he walked in teh pub just as gerrard scored the 1st and he was p*ssed off). Said he does a bit of the "corporate speaking $h*te" down there, and is doing just that on Saturday for the game. Just like to know what you lads thought of him.

I know he did gan on to play for the scum up the road from us, so had to call him a scottish scouse geordie b@stard :)

Anyway, all the best except Sat and the league game in a few weeks. Hopefully we can both finish higher than the mags and self pity fc.

Cheers

He was ****e most of the time, mainly appeared as sub we had Bob Latchford then,he came down from Scotland and at the time weighed about 9 stone and was constantly knocked off the ball, did score occasionally and played in the ill fated semi against the ****e when Clive thomas dissalowed that goal,he wont be getting into hall of fame put it that way

have a conversation with Jim most home games, good guy. never seen him play as i was to young. The old b@stards foxy and edge will know more.

well in h ,jim pearson was never a fans fav because we all wanted duncan to play alongside latch ,jim pearson never stopped running was good in the air and wasnt scared , met the guy a couple of times real nice man ,but as i said duncan mc was the crowd hero ,and pearsons name was often booed when he was selected ahead of duncan ,you up for that pint h

He wasn't the best , in truth .

DID tho play in Latchford's place - AN' PLAYED WELL in Infamous Clive Thomas game ..

Also had no teeth ....

I can just vaguely remember the name as i was born in 1971. He must had his teeth sorted an arl. Nice bloke tho.
what do you reckon for Sat then? I can confidently predict a 2-0 or 2-1 win for you lot.

We've been playing good stuff, difficult to beat under MON, but we have a couple of injuries/suspensions and we are playing our bogey side!!! Hoping for the draw to get you back up here, but cant see it.

For some weird reason, after struggling as a 'striker' he was put in midfield. He was twice the player there. We went on an 18 match unbeaten run and Jim played his part. Scored some spectacular goals too. Away to West Ham and home to Norwich come to mind. :)

Didn't he retire at about 27 through injury?

yes cant recall how old , got injured for newcastle not us, he wasnt as bad as some made out , bit lightweight for those days but not bad on the ball, but was a whipping boy for some in the crowd, mckenzie could do no wrong despite playing about one good game in four and then only in flashes , but the crowd had it in for pearson because he was left out.

This. It wasn't his fault that The Screaming skull had a Moist like preference for runners and grafters. But he bore the brunt of my ire as he was taking a place away from my hero.

Did score the only goal on my first visit to Goodison (3-1 defeat to clough's newly promoted Forest).
