Some decent suggestions there. I feel Cisse would be the best as I have been impressed with him when I have watched him, however I have heard that Freiburg want around £10m for him so he out of our price range. I think Vossen would be a more realistic signing as we could maybe get him for a couple of million.

thanks, i agree with you regarding vossen. in fact he is a player ive been posting about on other sites for ages.
he scores plenty, is young, big, versatile and has scored in the champions league PLUS he is belgian so no chance of losing him to africa nations cup and fellaini could have a quiet word in his ear and persuade him the club isnt all bad!

I would love to see him in an Everton shirt, but realistically in our situation this will never happen. I agree with the others, our main realistic targets should be Nicky Maynard & Jordan Rhodes.

No one had heard of Pienaar nor Arteta.

Are you saying no one had heard of Arteta before we signed him? I have to disagree people in Scotland knew of him for his performances for Rangers. Also he was well known in France after a good spell with PSG. He was highly rate by Real Sociedad but he couldn't break into their team if memory serves. He was very well established in the Spanish youth setup and people in Spain knew of him.

We were lucky to get him because Real Sociedad having a good midfield and him getting unsettled sitting on the bench. I would go as far as saying it was a masterstroke but he was certainly 'known'

Yes, but Ba was well known in Germany and Cabaye was well known in France. Most Evertonians aren't Spanish or Scottish therefore couldn't tell you who Arteta was let alone what he's good at, where he wa previously etc. until we were linked with him.

To people, like you seemingly, who knew about Arteta he wasn't unknown, but to most people he was. A fair number of people had heard of him, maybe from his Rangers days, but knew very little about him.

Before he came over here I wouldn't have said Cabaye was 'unknown' because he wasn't to me. But to most other people he probably was.

Let's just put it this way: Arteta was sitting on the bench for a lower tier Spanish team. How many of Real Sociedad's subs could the average guy name now? I'd guess at none.

Mikel was frozen out at Barcelona when they produced their own top players - not when they bought up south Americans for peanuts. It is worth considering how bad Spain were during that time (internationally) and the nature of their only two clubs since.
