Stalin wasn't Hitler's biggest fan either, doesn't make him any less of a nobhead

Yes, Clarkson is suspended because he a punched a co-worker...

Yeah - about this. Let's remember that handbags were commonplace until a few years ago. Before that there may have been a duel and differences met with taking a life. Possibly a bit too extreme.

Today instead of lamping somebody we have to be bullied by silver tongued do-gooders who batter you into submission because your ears are bleeding as they can master a diatribe of words, not necessarily because they are rational or right. Sometimes a good thump is a useful summarising tool. Then it's over with.

Haranguing people with endless words is the women's way. A scrap in the playground is a man's way. One of those can go on and on with poisonous resentment for decades, the other often ends with a handshake and a beer.

I know which I'd prefer.

You can't punch a colleague, mate. Simple as that.

Is this post a parody?

I'd rather be punched than nagged. We don't get a choice. Where's the democracy in that?

We are animals and, so just like them, naturally prone to violence. We try to hide that away and make out we're sophisticated and above the animals ... but just LOOK with your eyes ... our biggest economies get there by making and trading weapons on the back of violence. Laws have been established to stop us fighting because that protects the law makers who got where they are by, well, fighting! Remember the Norman Conquest at school? Remember the Land Grabs?

Don't get me wrong, I've only ever thrown a fist once and I didn't want to hit so I telegraphed it massively .... footie match in my younger years.

How do our opinions on this matter square with our unadulterated love for Big Dunc?
Iv never liked him. He was just a thug. He barely scored that many either...

People held him in high esteem for what? Throwing Ince to the floor, punching scharner, headbutting mcstay, strangling Freund, or showing his tattoo when he scored? Not much to be proud of to be honest I thought..

He was our only Beacon of hope in very worrying times

....apart from when it ends in a custodial sentence

Different rules for different people. Cantona attacked a spectator - had to go round a few schools. Ironic the thread has gone this way re Clarkson because it was yet another gaff in South America that made him front page news all of 8 months or so (the front page before his N word front page) and over there there have been killings and beheadings in football in the past 12 months - players and referees.
Bet you were as pleased as I was he roughed up the burglars that broke into his home though?

I got punched in work when I was 17 yrs old, I told one of the fellas were to go when he told me to do something.
When people ask what did yo do, I tell them simply I done what he asked me to do originally
A tough lesson, but never done me any harm

Agree though nowadays you can't punch people, sometimes you can't even speak in a raised tone
