Player Valuation: £225k
Just something I thought I'd post to keep the discussion going during the boring international break. I just thought it's an interesting topic because both players appear to be of similar ability, same age and play for similar size clubs (and play with players of similar-ish ability).

Evertonians may choose Jelavic, and Geordies will probably go for Ba. However, from the people i've spoken to I get the feeling that most neutrals opt for Ba as the better striker. I know this doesn't really count for much but most people opt for Ba in their fantasy team too.

So what I want to know is who you guys think is the better striker and WHY (talk about their different abilities/facets of game etc)? No bias please lads.....

I think Ba being in the league for quite a bit means people have seen a bit more. He's a class player though.

For me you'd never really, really appreciate how good Jelavic is unless you watched him a lot.

I think I'd go for Jelavic by a midgets dick. Both are well capable of scoring 25 in the PL IMO.

Ba scores a wider variety of goals and he's a better athlete knees aside. Jelavic is the better footballer and the bossest of slotters, but the ease with which he goes to ground lets him down sometimes.

I'd have either of them in a heartbeat.

Ba looks like a confidence player to me, he practicaly went half a season with out scoring. Jelavic looks like scoring consistently. In all honesty though I have not seen enough of Ba to judge.

Ba's a good player, but his knee is made of putty & will at some point go pop.

That aside, I'd take Jelavic over him anyway, as he's the more instinctive finisher, Ba will score 'better' goals, but Jela will score more of them.

They are too different to compare I think. Jelavic suits the game will play down to the ground, his finishing is superb and he links this nicely. Ba is probably better at making his own opportunities and scores more glory goals where Jelavic has more presence in the penalty area and is more of an out and out finisher.

You can be confident whilst being on the bench. Especially if you believe that you should not have been on the bench. Regardless, perhaps confidence is the wrong term I'm looking for. Essentially I'm saying he scores in patches (I think) and this could be down to confidence...

6 goals in 7 games most of which were from the bench (y)

Demba Ba went half a season last year without scoring remember, whereas Jelavic has been consistent since he's arrived here.

Although I think we need a full season of Jelavic to truly compare the two.

Brennan and his stats are awesome

Agree though. Would happily have either .... Or both.

Ba scores the spectacular but Jelavic scores with so much boss slotness it's untrue.

To be fair Ba was shoved out on the wing, wouldn't surprise me if Jelavic suffered in a similar way if he was put out there.

14 games he went without
