Always been Number 3, whichever position ive played. If i cant get that number i wont go on the field.

Superstitions not to be mocked!!

We use squad numbers at our amateur club but in my early days when I started playing semi professional I liked the number 13 shirt and it just stuck. It started because I scored a hat trick in a game, used the 13 for the rest of the season and got 4 more hat tricks!!!

I've usually been number 7 or 10, but recently moved to left back so I've taken on the number 5 shirt

DEAL WITH THAT BLS.

What the actual!?!?!? Would you play a number 9 in goal? Would you play the number 2 up front?? Like hell you would. Why the number 3??? It's sacrilegious. It should only ever be worn by a left back, or at a push a centre back. If you are indeed one of these, then fair enough. If not you're disgracing an ancient custom, and that saddens me. Sort it out please?

Also Alio, number 5 at left back is also just about acceptable. Not preferable, but it's ok.

I projectile vomited after scoring on my senior debut at 17. So got given number 6 (sicks) the following week and it stuck for years.

The only year I didn't wear it was when I was managed by a gobshoit Liverpool fan who proclaimed verbatim when I got changed for the first game of his tenure that "only Gary Gillespie is good enough to wear number six, so you can't have it" and he promptly took it out of the kit bag. He was the baddest of bad bellends.

Now I'm older I don't really care. Last season our kit was bobbins, some slim fitting Nike kit in medium or large only. Even the large ones made me look like a fricking sausage. Me and the other fat lads had to fight over the 2 or 8 shirts as they were the only ones which we could get into.

That is why I've played upfront wearing #6 or #2 for most of my life.
