What will most likely happen is that a compromise amount will be agreed with us paying a proportion of whats owed and the debt is squashed as LCAB(who prob has first hand info) says it could be as little as a tenth.

having just woked with a company that went into liquidation. we still owed them, even though they owed us money too. The debts are collected to pay as much as possible to the creditors. as that is the taxman, i am pretty sure we would have to pay.

This is right in my eyes. The administrators will take the money from Rangers' debtors to pay the creditors. It is inevitable that a business in this position owes more than it is owed/worth, so this is where the 10p in the pound payment to clear Rangers' debts is likely to be applied.

Even though Rangers as an entity don't exist, Everton are still liable to pay outstanding monies to Rangers' administrators.

Only when the debtor (in this instance Everton) goes into Administration does the possibility of non-payment come into play. It's in the interest of Rangers Administrators to seek to recover assets (money) on behalf of the creditors (mainly HRMC). There is no reason for Everton to pay any outstanding amounts before a due date although we might be prudent enough to seek a settlement for early payment which would involve paying less (presumably borrowing against that contingency). However it's much more likely that The Administrator will have agreed with Everton to receive the payments on the previously agreed dates for the specified amounts as our debt is relatively secure in the sense that the asset (Jelavic's contract)) has a sell on value.

I assume when dealing with such a major company which is in the media spotlight, the administrators will want it done with as soon as boss, which I'd expect to be a lower fee
