January Transfer Window 2026

The lack of pace in the team is baffling. Even when we have money we sign slow pedestrian players. I want a new recruitment team in place for the summer
Madness isn't it. Must be slowest team in PL. I think Branthwaite is our fastest player. How they didn't address it in the summer shows a massive lack of understanding of PL football.

Its been an issue for years and there has been no attempt in fixing the pace issue.

But aye jib off the recruitment team. They are dreadful and hold the club back.

I'm not totally up on all the behind the scenes stuff but didn't we bring in a new recruitment team after the summer window ended? I thought loads of them were essentially on gardening leave and couldn't start work until the autumn.

We’ll see how serious the Freidkins are in this window. I don’t want to get excuses from Kinnear about it being a difficult window. Arteta was a January signing, Coleman was, Jelavic made a huge impact. Guimaraes Diaz Fernandes Coutinho all recent January signings.

There’s quality out there, we need to take the opportunity to get through the door.

As soon as the summer window shut he was carting that one out unfortunately. We need at least a full back, a CM and a striker in January, but I’m not holding out any hope of getting even one of them.

Toney will need to be playing in the Premier League if he’s to have a chance of going to the World Cup. Arsenal, City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle, Villa either don’t need him or he wouldn’t be a guaranteed starter. We should be in the mix as we can offer him a start every week which is what he’ll be looking for.

Wages will be a lot but if he scores the goals that get us finishing in the top 10 then it’s money well spent.

Looking at that gaping hole in midfield yesterday, it still irritates me that we didn’t bring Xhaka in.
Hindsight is always 20/20. I agree that Xhaka has done really well at Sunderland but his age, his wages and his patchy form at Arsenal, a much better side than us, meant it was a bit of a risk. There would certainly have been voices of dissent if we had bought him.

Whilst I agree with you the worry I have then is needing to find another forward in the summer
