January Transfer Window 2026

Jarred B says hello 😆 Also you find 12 goals in 11 games acceptable ?
Branthwaite not played and is one good CB out of four. Need two on the pitch at all times

And we could and should score more, that's undeiable, but I that's not squarely on our number 9. Others have missed glaring chances. We've underperformed our XG as a team but we create lots of chances and imo are getting a little unlucky. We'll regress to the mean and smash someone soon, you watch. Scored 5 against Fulham!

What I'm saying is, I don't think our attacking play is the issue at the moment, it's at the other end of the pitch! We're just above the bottom four for XG against and big chances conceded this year (or were when I last checked, a few games ago)

Is Parrott’s all-round game decent or do people just emotionally want him after what he’s done for Ireland? His record in England isn’t great and the Dutch league just isn’t a serious place - some random team won 8-2 the other week ffs!
How does that make it a non-serious league? Such results happen in the PL often enough.

Because it wasn’t a top team that did it. Heracles are currently bottom of the league. Do you see Wolves smashing 8 goals in???

It’s always been a subpar league; not too sure why you’re trying to argue against that.
I just get the feeling that folks on here like to devalue any league outside the PL when the price for being the 'best league' is having a dumpster fire void of any morals.

I'd take the Eredivisie over the PL any day of the week. Football is more than just brute-forcing your way to success. I guess that's a vapid point to make to someone obsessed with the absolute cancer that is RB Leipzig.

Of course the quality of play is lower in comparison I just found the point you made about that result needless and absurd.

The bold is all that is up for discussion here. Signing high scoring players from the Eredivisie has always been a risk.

The rest is maybe for you to start your own thread to bitch about in as I said none of that.

Also Troy Parrott - Az Alkmaar

Ex Spurs Striker who is going well in Holland and in Europe too.

Young player with plenty of experience and game time

He is not the player we need ,he hits it first time ,can score with both feet and knows how to be in the right place . He needs to learn how to miss easy chances and slow the game down ,then get his club to set an over inflated price .

Fair enough.

I just disagree on the 'not a serious league' statement. Unecessary really. But I'm likely splitting hairs here.

….prolific goalscorers do notice the considerable difference in quality of defenders and goalkeepers the higher they go. The very best continue to produce but it can be a struggle for the majority. With a player like Parrot, much depends on the price.

My 2nd team is Sparta Rotterdam and so I see a fair bit of Dutch football.

Unfortunately the standard really is poor and the majority of the teams would struggle in the Championship.
