January Transfer Window 2026

The other problem we have is that we are constantly looking backwards. Maybe other clubs also do this, I don't know, I don't pay enough attention, but we constantly look to former players and managers to solve our problems despite having been rubbish (relatively) for thirty years or more. There is nobody left in the game who has actually tasted any real success for Everton Football Club but still we hanker after players and coaches who were part of that failure. For what it's worth, I'd have Richarlison on loan in January because we are so short of forward quality. We know he can hit the ground running and we also know he'll run himself into the ground for this club because he has done it before. I wouldn't have him back on a permanent because of the cost (wages and fee), because of his age and because of his injury record. I also think that, as a club, we need a genuinely fresh start and so former players and coaches should not be on our wishlists.
My thoughts exactly.

I like Richarlison, but he was no world-beater for us. Is he better than what we have? Of course. What we have is, basically, a giant hole up front. On loan? Yeah, why not. Permanent? No thanks. We have GOT to do better if we are to progress as a club.

As you say, we hanker after those who have been, gone, and won nothing while they were with us. No wonder we continue to win nothing when they come back.

The Friedkins got a pass last summer because of circumstances. But there has to be a genuinely ambitious executable plan next summer. Previous players and managers need not apply.

Could see moyes wanting Zirkzee will be intresting what he does r if beto is sold and we buy a striker
I'm defo in the minority but I think he would be an interesting signing for us. Different profile, less physical and wouldn't score a bucketload but would help us get the most out of Ndiaye and Grealish.

Would prefer Toney, but wouldn't be fuming if we got Zirkzee on loan with an option.

The problem with Everton is we continually have crap windows - and these colour our thinking. So, people can now rightly argue "But Richarlison is better than we have!"

Well, of course he is when we likely wasted money on Barry.

So, what do Everton do? We re-sign Richarlison because he is an "upgrade" - and then we find ourselves back here again this time next year wondering why he hasn't really worked out and pondering a move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Thought about double glazing?

Would worry another player with lack of pace but do think would be more of a link up type of cf. Really not sure on him if honest

Actually cannot believe I'm seeing people turning their noses up at Ivan Toney. Some of you need your heads thoroughly examined.

There genuinely aren't many better centre forwards than him out there, never mind ones we could sign. Proven consistent goalscorer at this level and still only 29. What more do people want????
At first I wasn't to keen on the idea of Toney, his attitude doesn't come across too well but he's certainly still scoring a lot of goals and he'll instantly be our best striker.
