January Transfer Window 2026

Watching Mljilland or however you spell it against Celtic here, you can easily see why they are top of the Europa league, very exciting brand of football with young Africans, Brazilians and Danes. Franculino up top looks a right handful 21 years of age. Why we have to spend fortunes on the likes of Beto when lads like this would cost a fraction I'll never understand.
I really like him but feel it’s a big risk signing a 21 year old unproven striker. If we got rid of beto possibly but feel we still need a proven striker. Where you get that from I don’t know

We must learn that strikers without PL experience are a waste of money, Barry, Beto, Niasse, Tosun etc Incant remember the last striker decent striker with no PL experience, Madar, Donovan maybe.

…..there’s lots of fine strikers who have come into this league without PL experience. The fact we struggle to acquire one is down to our recruiters rather than it being a requirement.

It’s not just strikers. It’s most players. There isn’t a proper established prem club as useless as us as signing players from abroad. We almost never do it and when we do 90% of the time it fails. Something is and always has been wrong with how we do transfers

If sell Beto in January if a Serie A club shows an interest. I know no one is guaranteed a goal but I’m feeling by the law of averages, even if we’re trying to buy crap strikers that we’ll accidentally sign a good one soon. I’m pretty sure any replacement would be able to match Beto’s (checks notes) 1 goal so far this season.

Must exercise caution, though. Remember Mike Tresor? I'm certain he won player of the season in Belgium only to never be given chance at Burnley under a Belgian manager in Kompany.
I rather we take a punt on someone who looks to improve year on year.

The player has to fit the style of play and show consistent quality.

Too many square pegs in round holes and you are always at the mercy of having to re-jig personnel to try and make it work.

Kompany probably did Burnley some good in the long run, but some players don't fit in a managers style.

They made his loan permanent so he must have shown some worth.

I don't expect much in jan, possibly a couple of loans at most.

If any questions are being asked behind the scenes, than they wont want to be bringing in any more Moyes signings.
Who were the Moyes signings? I thought the issue was the inexperienced players who he won’t play (ie spending 70m on x3 players).
Maybe bringing in ‘Moyes signings’ is the way forward?

Ps. Who has been a Moyes signing btw, Coleman apart!!

We should be going hell for leather for forwards with real pace and a right back everything else can wait until the summer. Sarr from palace and Ivan stoney would be my choices for the forward line. Not cheap but worth the investment

The whole scenario around 'Who were the Moyes signings' is like opening up a can of worms on here.

Any time I mention how I saw it in the summer, the maggots come crawling.

( I think it's obvious who he had a bigger say in than not )

As for the Jan window, like I said, I don't see much action past the possible odd loan.

If Moyes future is possibly being questioned behind the scenes than they won't be spending for him.

I agree. We now have the final jigsaw in the committee too.
Moyes has 18 months left on his contract. We have to buy players who he thinks will help us grow in the short term but equally need to think beyond. It’s a fine balance but from the summer, I would guess that there aren’t that many who were his first choice picks.
