January Transfer Window 2026

Pretty sure you have to fulfil the entire length of your contract to get the full salary tax-free (or essentially sign a secondary contract), which is why I would be surprised if Toney jumps ship like Jordan Henderson did part-way through his deal.

As for Neves, a proven top class midfielder, if he were to become availble, we'd be at the very back of the queue for about 30 clubs who are far and away a much better proposition in every way shape and form than this outfit.
I looked it up. It’s two years (presumably why Demarai Gray did two of his four year deal), so to join us in Jan rather than summer, Toney would have to pay back about 7 million quid he’s already earned, then take a massive paycut. File under ‘seriously unlikely’!

Toney? The same Ivan Toney whose family were racially abused at Goodison sparking a police investigation?

That would be quite some rapprochement I feel.

Only if you're in the habit of tarring an entire group of people (club) with the same brush. Kevin Campbell had the brains not to do so after a similar experience. He's human, so I'd say it's evens whether he still holds a grudge, or whether he's capable of moving past it.

I seem to recall him being rather upset about it. Will he take the approach you advocate and let bygone bygones or say 'nah'? I could understand him not being keen.

Was Super Kev (or his family) racially abused with us? He certainly was by the president of Trabzonspor. And left, swiftly.

Someone would have to pay the seven million. There would surely be ways of ensuring that it doesn't hurt Toney's tiny bank balance. The other side to the point your making is that he has to remain in Saudi, and totally forget about the World Cup if he doesn't move.

True, but I think he made that choice when he went there in the first place. I’m not sure who would pay his 7 mill for 6 months, plus wages and a potential loan fee that would make the overall deal cost north of 12 mill for less than 20 games.

They're different individuals with different psyches, but yes Campbell had an anecdote about being racially abused at Goodison when playing for Arsenal. That Trabzonspor maniac wanted rid of Campbell, and used his hidden or dormant racism as a means of getting him out of the door, and then Campbell chose Everton to get away from the racist maniac.

Toney is a tad naïve if he doesn't think his paymasters in Saudi, and the majority of Saudi society, aren't raging racists. The idea that Everton FC is more racist than Saudi is a bit ridiculous imo.

Campbell took such a strong stand/approach going over there in the first place, especially at that time.
Not many players would have made that move, and although it ended shamefully, he put his foot out there to make a pathway for other players..

Such a top man was Kev
Things like that is why he was loved by all 💙

“Elliot Anderson is someone who has maintained his form and has had the most touches, 807, in the Premier League this season - but the midfielder is an exception to the rule.”

that won’t last, unless he’s on goal kicks

Poor guy is going to have to build the muscles in his neck up from looking directly up for the rest of the season

Could just find a Saudi bookie and put 10m on himself to join a prem club

The next window has Zirkzee written all over it.

Moyes wouldn’t know what to do with Ivan Toney. Great goal scorer but unlike say Saha, who basically could do everything you could possible want from a number 9, inc creating his own chances, I’m not so sure Toney would be any where near as prolific as he has been the way we play.

Thats quite the sweeping generalisation of Saudis. That may be so, but experiencing open racial abuse is pretty emotive. It was hus family too. He may be able to put it behind him, but what about his families feelings?

Are you saying they should forget it?

I've no real dog in this fight, in truth, but what I am saying is it may be a factor. It is ultimately down to Toney. And if he dies sign sure the majority of Evertonians will show him love.

God please let’s not go for Zirkzee who looks miles off and some seem to think k he’s more of a number 10?
what I’ve seen of Toney he’s very good at holding the ball up, so I think he would suit us and Moyes. Though it’s unlikely to happen

No all may have been as it seems with that story, from the horses mouth - 13m 30sec

However that is somewhat at odds with statements attributed to him at the time so who knows.
