Very much so. Possibly too lightweight for the PL. Isn't available this window.

Some of our best signings in the recent era were from the lower divisions - Branthwaite, Stones, Lescott, Cahill..
Unfortunately the obsession with ‘name’ players from Arsenal, Man Utd, Barcelona etc has killed us in the last few years.

When you look at Branthwaite in particular though, it’s mad that we haven’t taken more punts on lower league players.

Our transfer strategy used to be best of the rest. Cahill at Millwall, Lescott at Wolves, Baines at Wigan etc. The better players in the division below us.

Problem is now the market has meant players that we would have picked up relatively cheaply are going for £22m like that Adam Wharton who is extremely highly rated and Alex Scott who went to Bournemouth for £20m.

Deadline day tommorrow .... is a mere 300 pages a new (low) record ?

Still, not selling our better players is a good thing in our predicament.
we would be well over 1.000 pages by now normally lol. looking more and more likely nothing is going to happen, except maybe Godfrey. The only real position we would need strengthening is for the position of Doucoure. But with hardly any creditable links it looks unlikely. It seems Thelwell's contract offers was only 1: Hannibal.

At this stage with no owners and no money ill be ok if we just keep what we have - thats what everton have done to me 🤔
I do think not selling a major asset at least has to be seen as some sort of positive, if nothing else that the finances don't have us at deaths door and needing to sell just to keep paying the bills.

Still slightly disappointed that there hasn't been someone offered around on loan we could've added for a body given the state of things, even if it was someone unspectacular.
