January Transfer Thread 2017

We will not be spending big this january. Deal with it.

....I suspect we will bring in quite a few, especially with the Stones money giving us scope we won't have in the Summer under fair play rules. 'Spending big' may depend on availability, it might also depend on selling clubs being aware of the situation we are in after the Stones sale.

we badly need a centre mid, a playmaker and a striker. It would be nice to strengthen throughout the first team.

Doubt more than 1 or two in will happen before the summer though. And even that might be a push

What we want and what we need and what we will end up getting are gonna be light years apart though, and the we only finished 11th how can we expect to bring in top players is craps really.

If the moneys there and your a very established top half team which we are then players will come if financially you make it attractive. We didn't do that, we went head to head with teams perceived rightly so as above us and tried to sell the project over the present they could offer, only way to change that is by outbidding and outpaying for those players.

Just don't do it to the extend it risks the long term health of the club, which if moshiri is all he is claimed to be then it won't.

Napoli are in 6th at the moment, if they stay there or sink down further then lets see if Moshiri was true about us being in for him for their £60mil asking price and Napoli not selling.

If we wanted him that much then we would be in for him again.

Depends what we attempt to do mate, IF we target the likes of Strootman and players of that ilk, at those types of clubs, and with the importance they have at those clubs, then will will get nothing worthwhilst in, they will either not be willing to sell, or will demand fees that we will back away from.

IF we actually think about it rather than try to play foty manager which is what we seemed to have done in the summer by and large then we could easily bring in a good number of players that would improve us a hell of a lot, with the added bonus of not wasting the STCC allowance afforded us by selling Stones

Mid table premiership teams for example WILL sell some of there better players - in summer or January it doesn't matter really, as they are in that comfort zone of not being enough to get top 4 and being too strong to go down, teams like Saints, Palace etc have in past years sold some of there better players during a January - Cabaye from Newcastle being another case of that - as indeed was our sale of Graveson years back to Madrid.

Some of the BIG teams, by January it will be abundantly clear to a fair few of those players that they don't have much of a future at the teams (especially now that most managers like Conte, Klopp, Mourinho, Guardiola etc have had 6 months or more under their belts by then), same goes for teams across Europe as well, throw on top of that some teams like Inter are almost in meltdown - and are a good choice to try to go for players who maybe are looking at getting out of dodge so to speak.

Will probably get dgs for the first suggestion - but say Sturridge come January could be an option - same for Schneiderlin, Rooney, Begovic, Ramsey, etc, players who have either nt been given a chance or who have seen there roles diminished dramatically.

Pastore - dropped down the pecking order at PSG, Peresic out of favour at Inter (could change obviously with FDB leaving), although could say a fair few Inter players must be currently a bit unhappy given the mess the club is in from top to bottom, thats without getting silly and talking about out of favour Madrid players - who are simply out our league and a waste of time thinking about etc.

Imagine a Everton team in January, bringing in Sturridge, Peresic and say Schneiderlin and say Heaton and VVD - all makeable deals - would cost a fair amount, but not one of those players 'should' be out of our reach in terms of finances and being able to attract them here

Won't happen because the club either doesn't have the ambition stated it has, or is setting it's targets all wrong

Everton could be close to tying up the transfer of 18-year-old Rafik Zekhnini with reports in Norway claiming he has been given permission to fly to England to negotiate a move this week.

Einar Håndlykken, chief executive of Odd, refused to identify the club that Zekhnini has flown to meet except to concede that it was a "European top club" but Varden report that it is Everton.

Zekhnini, who has five goals in 22 games so far this season and turned heads with a superb display against Borussia Dortmund last year in a Europa League playoff game, has long been regarded as a jewel in Odd's crown and they have been reluctant to let him go without receiving a sizeable offer, even with just a year left on his current contract.

The player himself has been pleased with the club's conduct over the interest in his services and is quoted by Nettavisen as saying: "I have been allowed to talk to other clubs, and both I and my family are very happy with how Odd has handled this."

Odd, my local team . Varden my local newspaper

The trick is getting one big name player and others will sit up and take interest.

Failing that then you need to go for the overseas clubs (like you say) who either arent playing someone or arent doing well.

Theres plenty of players we could sign as long as we pay the money and Moshiri has said that money isnt an issue and we matched £60mil for Koulibaly so we must spend big in Jan.
