2025/26 James Tarkowski

Keane bailed him out a couple of times, not sure I’ve ever said that about a Keane partner before.

Really hoping that injury at the end of last season hasn’t done him at this level.

He’s come back from injury, he’s not as good as he was last season, there’s reasons for that.

Tarky looked a lot better last season because he had Jarad next to him. Playing further up the pitch only exposes Tarky, but when Jarad plays they organise very well together.

Tarky will look better when he has Jarad next to him.

Saying that, he is everything you need in a team environment, any one who played a team based competitive sport will understand.

He will put himself on the line every time, his greatest strength is his character you want in the side. You cannot buy his leadership and character. Very few have it.

He is our leader. He’s the best on pitch leader we’ve had in decades for me.

Jimmy Garner was telling him to calm down when he was arguing with Pickford. Just seems to be a regular thing with him atm

I really do rate Tarkowski and his leadership. But if the decision had to be made today, I’d start resting Tarkowski in favour of Keane and Branthwaite when fit. I’d hate to see Keane go back to the bench.

Looks like his head's gone to me.

Maybe a combination of Moyes rating Keane and showing faith in him, Branthwaite about to come back and O'Brien looking more than capable of doing a job in CD is getting to him.

He looks like a headless chicken all pre-season and all season so far.

I was a big fan, but this feller should be on the bench for me now.

Tarks is a hard player, a hard man, but very honest. When that sub Uche hit him in the stomach he stayed on his feet and did not make a meal of it. True, it was not a hard punch, but almost every other player in the Prem I can think of would have fallen over clutching his stomach. Massive respect to him.
It's refreshing to see a player not trying to con the referee. One of the reasons I find football unbearable to watch now is the way players feign injury to get another player sent off or to 'win' a penalty. Saw it yesterday with the Sunderland lad Hume holding his face trying to 'win' a penalty for a high boot when there wasn't any contact and I just shook my head thinking this is football in 2025

He’s not recovered well from the hamstring injury really has he. That and a disrupted pre season.

I think he’s probably carrying some kind of niggle as well. This break will do him the world of good.

If he still looks like this after the internationals we know we’ve got a big problem with him.

I know he and his wife got some Kopite death threats. I wonder whether he's still affected by that?

Is it just me that thinks he looks well off it?

Was never quick but looks to of lost another yard of pace.

Positionally poor at time in every game this season too.

Looks well off his previous high standards…

I'd be surprised if he finishes the season as first choice. Great consistency down the years here and at Burnley but to me J O'B needs to go centrally sooner or later to fully kick on at prem level. He can do a job for sure at RB but that's the sort of positional choice that will keep the club mid table and no more.
