2025/26 James Tarkowski

I'm not surprised at the extension, he's in the first team every week after all, but I am a little surprised at the length of contract. This will take him well beyond his 35th birthday and I assume he will be on at least the same terms as his current contract, if not better terms, which was widely reported as being in the £100-120k per week range. That's a lot of money for a 35 year old defender.

More of this please.

Good signing.
I don’t think we should be so quick to write players off just because they’re over 30. It’s like the moment someone has a shaky six months past that age, people assume they’re finished. But look at Distin—everyone said he was on the decline, then he came here and was absolutely immense. These lads are in phenomenal shape now, and with the right setup, they’ve still got plenty to offer.
Pretty much this

Plus Moyes does like aged & experienced Centre Halfs and does get a tune out of them.

I like Tarks but probably renew his contract a season at a time.

I would be incredibly surprised if he is on better wages.

surprised by the length of the extension but not that it was extended, his performances have really dropped of this year so should really be transitioned to a backup cb by next season

He's not been upto scratch thats for sure.
But he did have a bad injury over the summer.
And I recall he started last season very much in the same way.
So I won't be too quick too judge him just yet

Wonder if this comes with a paycut since Doucoure and Young were supposedly offered extensions with that condition.

Still expect us to buy another CB next season, especially with Branthwaite's injury record.

I’d bet that it’s a reduced salary, although possibly with more incentives, and the reason for that was that they’ve given him a longer contract.

I’m not happy about the Yank influence in the English game, but at least it feels like we’ve got grown ups running the club again.
