I don’t buy that at all. I know fans of lots of clubs who all hate Liverpool and they all think it is a red card as do lots of Evertonians. Not even debatable.

Well it is debatable because we are debating it. It is not about hating on Liverpool.

I am looking at that clearance and saying there is mitigation.

Do you agree that he put force into kicking the ball?
Do you agree that he got to the ball a good second or so ahead of Mac Allister and connected with the ball perfectly?
Do you agree that the force he put into kicking the ball would inevitably mean that his leg would not just stop?
Do you agree that he was also sliding which would be even more difficult to stop the leg from going past the contact position?
Look at the still posted ( I think in this thread earlier) of the contact with the ball. Do you agree that Mac Allister is in the process of trying to block the clearance?

That last one is key for me. Mac Allister did not have the ball, it was loose. Tarkowski saw that it was loose and knew he needed to clear it. It is no different to somebody clearing the ball while stood up with a player coming across the front of him and the player kicking the ball then following through and kicking the opposition player after. There is, in my opinion, enough difference to a tackle where a player has the ball and the tackler comes in full blooded and misses the ball. That is what the pundits are likening it to, with all this 100% a red stuff.

For me, all those questions point to valid debating topics. You may or not believe me but if it was the other way around I would have the same view.

Regardless if we like it or not you can’t tackle like that in 2025. Anyone who’s even played Sunday league football at centre half used to tackle like that to nail people.

The moment he’s swung through the ball and finishes that high it’s a red card.

Are you suggesting players have to stop their leg immediately after kicking a ball? Macallister was nowhere near the ball. Was never going to win it, why is he there?

Make a good point tbf..... the RS is in fact nowhere near the ball and stretches somewhat to try block it!

You look at the point when JT goes to make the challenge and then the leap / stretch from the RS to try and block it!

Good job JT's leg didn't stay on the floor either as a straight leg stamp in that challenge could have been a serious injury from a player lunging in.

I’m not upset at all. I’m more disappointed that so many melts/drips support our club that can’t call a spade a spade. I can’t respect people who are so blinkered by hatred/bias. It basically the character trait which allowed Brexit to happen and allow Trump to be voted in. You keep drinking the koolaid. I’d prefer to keep by dignity and integrity.
What a disproportionately scattergun response to people joining a debate and having contrasting views...on..er...a forum for contrasting views and debate. Hate/Bias/Trump/Brexit/Kool Aid... you forgot to include The Falklands War with MacAllister being Argentinian. Or did you purposefully omit it in case anyone thought, God forbid, that it could make you sound like an eejit ?
