Agree, if a foul, it's a red.

The defender is always winning the ball - get out the way.

If Tarkowski half arses it, he could come away injured himself from a lazy/late hanging leg/stamp.

A proper tackle, momentum took him through.

This is the point for me, if he doesn't commit, he gets injured. It is exactly because of his committal and desire to get the ball that Macallister backs out. The whole thing happens in a split second, Tarkowski sees Macallister make for a loose ball, he makes sure its his, plays through the ball to ensure good contact amd momentum carries him forwards. Had Macallister challenged he'd not have been caught at all. Its only by Macallister half arsing it that he gets caught, exactly the reason Tarkowski never half arsed it. If you pull out, you get hurt. I learnt that at 7 years old.

Tarko is a master of the dark arts. According to my paper he now has the joint most yellow cards without ever being sent off in Prem history.
I'm struggling to get my head round that this morning TBH.

That’s a load of rubbish.

He could have done so many other things than follow through like that.

It was a 60/40 ball in his favour. It was there to even clear without making contact.
In the same manner, if it was a 60/40 where Tarkowski was able to clear it so easily, then what is Macallister even doing coming across him?

It was a split second. He ball is there to be won, he won it. His desire for the ball made a 50/50 ball 60/40 in his favour. If all this chat about he could have pulled out and changed his body shape is to be believed, then in exactly the same way, in that same time frame, why has Macallister not removed himself from a challenge he was clearly not going to win. The players aren't operating in different spheres of time. Tarkowski simply wanted it more and Macallister (who is no stranger to a few heavy challenges himself) backed out.

Anyone who plays football knows what he’s done there.

Even in the 80s that’s a red with a good ref.

Centre halves have to make challenges like that every game, how many do you see that result in a possible leg breaker?

None, because they’re all good enough to put in forceful tackles without running the risk of a red card.

If you can’t do that then you shouldn’t be playing at this level.
You're having a laugh aren't you?

That's a bog standard challenge in any game from that period.

Former Everton striker Duncan Ferguson said on Sky Sports: "There is no argument. Straight red. Back in the day, you might have got away with that.
"That could have been a leg-breaker but that is a straight red all day long. He should have given the decision on the field but that is a straight red. Terrible decision.
"

Judas.

You can stick that new book of yours up your arse, you ungrateful thick get.

Another Judas for your list eh

Macalister made that a 'reckless' challenge.

Tarkowski got the ball. End of story.

Let the self-hating Evertonians who want to impress their Kopite mates that they're "fair minded' to earn a little pat on the head off them have their say. But they are wrong. 100% wrong.
In a still image it looks like a red, but I'm in exact agreement with you.
