Confirmed Signing James Rodriguez

I hope you all realise, that despite this wealth of evidence that he is indeed going to be an Everton player, that does not excuse ANY of you from meltdown duty if he hasn't signed by 6pm sharp on Sunday.

I expect the same level of bedwetting, jarg rumours and deranged speculation until the usual 10pm photo of him posing with a fan at a random Liverpool location emerges.
Just pretend tonight never happened (like the past 3 nights) and reset back to panic and worry first thing tomorrow morning.

That would be grand!

This was from my colleague who was at Il Forno tonight. She was on the next table to Carlo but wouldn’t know James if he sang Go Compare in her face

I hope he signs 2moro buddy so you can get back to work Monday or we'll have to do a whip round for you haha

Look, when the rumour first came about a few weeks ago (in the Telegraph) that a deal was close, I said the same on here. He is exactly the type of player we really shouldn't go for, all things considered, if we stuck to this 'sustainable' model.

That doesn't mean I don't want him here or don't think he isn't going to be a good signing, mate.

In fact, I think I said something like 'he's the type of signing we really shouldn't make. So for that reason, he's exactly the signing we should make right now'.

I know it's twisted logic, but it's true.

Really, the type of player we should be trying to sign is a playmaker who is 24/25 and has bags of talent, or a player like Ziyech (a bit older albeit). But realistically, for where we are, it isn't gonna happen. So to be able to use Ancelotti as a cheat code for transfers - which is what he is - is absolutely brilliant.
We aint signing Ziyech or similar.
I absolutely trust Carlo and if he wants James ( a worldwide star ) then i'm ok with that.
This isnt Silva and Walsh signing chancers this is one of the vey best managers EVER signing players he trusts .I know where he wants to take us , so sit back and enjoy the ride ....its gonna be good.

Stop talking sense and enjoying yourself will yer - that kind of thing is frowned upon by a few on here.

For all our kopite lurkers - sniff it.

Well, James is probably still as good as Ziyech is right now. That wasn't my point.

Ideally, to improve, we have to sign quality players. I don't care if they're 29 or 24, really, as long as they improve us.

Our best players of the past two seasons are Digne (a 'cast off' with something to prove) and Richarlison (a lad from a lesser club with something to prove).

We've had some hits and plenty of misses.

I hope James - and I trust Carlo's judgement - has something to prove. I think he does. And if he can prove it, then we'll be far better off for it.

The article does say that, too, tbf to Wilson.

This is the thing.

I don't know who you're calling a Kopite, but half of our fanbase's issue is the siege mentality we have (it's an issue all fanbases have, I know).

Wilson will get loads of grief for that article. Unfortunately, that's because he's pointing out the flaws that are underneath the excitement.

Doesn't mean anyone who kind of agrees with his general point (as I do) is a 'kopite', or isn't excited for the transfer.

Agreed...but Wilson is a blurt.

I get your point.

Should we really be signing a player who is 29, their career has stalled a little and there are numerous injury concerns who would come in and be our highest-paid player? Hell no.

Will he :

a) Play every game and dominate
b) Go AWOL around November complaining about the cold
c) Retire from football at Christmas after seeing Jesus, not the City fella, in a cracker

Lets be honest they are all possibilities.

So no, we probably shouldn't sign him.

But.

Its Hameth Rodrigeth man, just to see him once in blue is worth everything.

Its a coin flip, 3 years from now, we look back and we know then if its worth it, but for now, we roll the dice, if we hit, well its Its Hameth Rodrigeth man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
