Effectively it's a free transfer without a signing on fee or pay rise by the sound of it. I'm kind of surprised that we wanted to take on such heavy wages. Over £96k per week.

Thought he was on £125k a week at City? That's just over £6m for year, after which he can walk away for nowt. Hopefully this is wrong, and City are paying a chunk of his wage.

didn't mention his name, but I was thinking about him when I posted that. Don't see him breaking into the first team this season, but Lundstram will definitely contribute to our first team in the years to come. Hats off to our academy!

Lundstram, Barkley, McCarthy could be an extremely strong central midfield for over a decade if things click into place...

We NEED Lundstram to kick on this season, as next year with players getting older (Osman) and loans finishing we will be short

Think he, Duffy and possibly Stones need to go on loan till Jan now....

Really need Lundstram and Stones breaking through by the end of the season to move out a couple of oldies.

Think a loan till chrimbo to the likes of wigan would do lundtstram a world of good tbh, stones i think will see a fair bit of games this year, seemed to be rated highly during the preseason and has all the attributes robbie wants in a cb

I'm really happy we finally signed McCarthy, a really, really good player, I think people also forget that he's only 22 too. Should be able to slot in really easy, he knows Martinez well, apparently him and Coleman are really good mates, he would have played with Gibson and would obviously know Robles, Kone, Alcarez and a lot of the backround staff too so he shouldn't have any issues settling in. I know people say the fee is to much yet most people were willing to spend the money on Fernando, a player from the Portugese league with no international experience who most of us haven't even seen play before yet spending the money on a younger proven premier league player who we know works well with our manager and his tactics is over spending.

Yeah, except Barkley will play for Utd by the time 2016-17 kicks off.

good post. Think he will do well

£5m for Barry's services for 1 season is a hell of a way to burn through our cash.

Don't get me wrong, he's a quality pro and I'm sure that he'll do a job, but we could probably have signed an young upcoming player for that sort of money. We've now got 3 loan signings this season. How do you build a squad around players who are not going to be around past the end of the season?

Why are the likes of Hibbert, Geuye & Heitinga still around? These guys are sucking up our resources and will contribute nothing over the course of the season.

For the 10101272727th time, we'll be paying a fraction of Bareth Garry's wages. £55K max.

We just offloaded our top earner as well.

Can't understand folk bemoaning not selling the likes of Hibbo, Maggie and Jonny when they each have pretty obvious reasons for attracting no attention. You do realise a buyer is important in a transaction? Non?
