Wait till you see Jimmy in the flesh, hes quality.

Tried to avoid this debate until the signing was complete due to the general fume fest but I agree. Admittedly only seen him play in the flesh once but rated him then.

Other than that I remember he was linked with Arsenal one window and Wigan were on the box a couple of times so made a point of watching him specifically. Remember thinking he's a good player, would add to the fluidity of most teams whose talent could be questioned by people looking back at his stats to judge his perfromances. Hleb (pre-barca) and Pienaar sprung immediately to mind, that mould.

Fume over. In comparison to the money in, and his fee... It's palatable.

A good, young midfielder. A replacement for Osman. It's looking to the future.

Still money for a January signing too (hopefully)

On the upside it looks like McCarthy (22) and Barkley (19) are going to be first team fixtures from now on, with some of our older players like Osman dropping back into the squad.
I'll tell you what, if Osman still claims a starting berth after this transfer window ...

Its reported EFC have agreed to pay Barry's wages so that's 5 million after that he is a free agent so if he proves he astill has it he may stay!

Effectively it's a free transfer without a signing on fee or pay rise by the sound of it. I'm kind of surprised that we wanted to take on such heavy wages. Over £96k per week.

the last jimmy mac we had was 'the scottish rooney' james mcfadden

Great deal of satisfaction at #EFC Wigan say package for James is £12m+£3m. Not bad considering #WAFC paid just over a £1m 4 years ago.

Nearly £15m... christ! That is so much money considering what's gone on this window!

just reading that makes me smile. the future of our midfield looks bright for sure.

What we need is Lundstram to come through this season, then we have a very bright future in central midfield.

didn't mention his name, but I was thinking about him when I posted that. Don't see him breaking into the first team this season, but Lundstram will definitely contribute to our first team in the years to come. Hats off to our academy!
