Have a look again at that montage of him against Man U, an specifically the weight on his passes. He ain't a water carrier
 
....I just don't like basing virtually his whole transfer dealings in Wigan. He's supposed to have a global knowledge of players, I'd like to see him exercise it.

It really is amazing how you everton fans know eff all about McCarthy, if Diame is available for 5.5 mill why haven't arsenal, who were supposed to be after him paying that, or more so why isn't Martinez who brought Diame to this country in the first place beating down West Hams door.

The reason is in Diame you have a player who looks a world beater for 10 minutes in a game but is anonymous for the rest of it, he is also a sulky selfish player with pathetic stamina, he's dead on his feet after 60 minutes in every game he plays, he disappears for the African nations every 2 years and when he came back to wigan after the last one, was crap and never played in an amazing end of season run, one of the reasons being McCarthy's form.

McCarthy is a selfless, tireless team player who links play in midfield, he is 10 times the player Diame is, and after reading this board for the last couple of days deserves so much better than you lot.

Way to miss the point - a lot of us think he's a decent player; it's just the ridiculous fee that old Peg Leg Whelan wants that annoys us.

He's an £8m player at best.

We're hearing from Guardian sources that James McCarthy's transfer from Wigan to Everton is not dependent on the Marouane Fellaini deal to Manchester United going through but they are still haggling over the add-ons on top of the upfront £12m fee.

It's not amazing at all mate. I watched your lot play four times last year, against us in the cup and the league and the your final. Four games is hardly much of a basis to form an informed opinion, so the question is valid as I ask it from the position of knowing little about McCarthy. Well spotted, by the way.

For clarity, is he worth £7m more than Diame in your opinion? Hard to tell from your posts to date.
